PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2001–PRESENT ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT ON AGING, SPRINGFIELD, IL.

TRAINING AND SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Serve as conference coordinator for five (5) major statewide conferences, eight ( 8) regional trainings, and numerous special events. The attendance at events ranging from 50 to 1000. Responsible for minor budget related tasks, design and development of all registration and program booklets, speaker selection, staffing coordination and all on-site arrangements.

Serve as Department’s Conference Sponsorship and Exhibit Coordinator. Since assuming these responsibilities in 2006, conference sponsorships and exhibit income have exceeded income expectations which assisted in lowering the registration cost for attendees.

Serve as Department’s Central Management Services Training Clearinghouse Coordinator. Assisted staff in selection and registration for all trainings/conferences.

Audio Visual Coordinator for the Illinois Department on Aging; duties include: the development of a database which logs all training equipment and the development of a system to monitor all activity, maintenance and on-site trouble shooting with all audio visual equipment for all events.

Developed procedures to centralize all Department wide meeting and conference requests. Responsibilities include: site selection, contract negotiation, room block set up, on site coordination, speaker arrangements and meal functions.

1999–2001 ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT ON AGING, SPRINGFIELD, IL.

INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR Developed an agency sponsored statewide intergenerational program: Talented Older Persons in Schools (TOPS). Responsibilities included: the development of contract procurement standards for program site selection, authored all program guidelines and reporting specifications, developed program brochure, presented program information to numerous association and civic meetings, and worked with AmeriCorps, Retired Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP), and Foster Grandparent Coordinators in recruitment of volunteers for the program.

1994–1999 ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT ON AGING, SPRINGFIELD, IL.

LONG TERM CARE SPECIALIST Managed and developed procedures for the Illinois Department on Aging’s, Division of Long Term Care, Community Care Programs, complaint and theft reporting system. Responsibilities included: investigating, documenting and monitoring all reports. Developed a database to track all reports, monitor and analysis trends and patterns throughout the state, and developed reports to assist with statewide long term planning.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE CONITINUED

Assisted with the organizing, planning, implementing and evaluation of a statewide Quality Assurance Program.

Developed two Pilot Projects for the Illinois Department on Aging: The first project involved the development of a training curriculum for in-home providers to work more effectively with visually impaired clients. The second project was a Transportation Demonstration Project that evaluated the transportation needs of rural seniors in the state of Illinois.

1992–1994 ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT ON AGING, SPRINGFIELD, IL.

GRADUATE PUBLIC SERVICE INTERN / PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION INTERN As an intern, authored an Intergenerational Program Resource Guidebook. In addition, developed training curriculum, monitored and provided all aspects of on-site technical assistance and budget development for a statewide intergeneration program: Illinois READS. Piloted the program at six (6) sites throughout Illinois and conducted all analysis of all data collected and prepared reports for Administration and the Illinois General Assembly.

1985 – 1991 SPRINGFIELD PARK DISTRICT, SPRINGFIELD, IL Served as the Education Coordinator (5 years) and Director (2 years) of the Henson Robinson Zoo in Springfield, IL. Developed a number of education programs, both on site and in the local and surrounding school districts, supervised 15 employees and developed a volunteer program, supervising over 50 volunteers. Coordinated efforts in receiving national accreditation recognition and worked closely with the Springfield Park District Board of Directors and the Zoological Society in enhancing zoo habitats and fund raising activities.
