Dear Sirs/Mesdames:
I take the honors in applying to your distinguished institution as a part-time or full-time ESL
instructor.
My name is Nestor Mercado, and I presently reside in San Diego, California. I received my
Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree from the University of the Philippines, and I am
currently taking my on-line Master’s degree in Education (English Language Learning) from the
American Public University System. I expect to graduate in August, 2015.
I understand that acquiring English communication skills involves learning all the language rules
of writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Becoming a responsive ESL teacher, therefore,
becomes quite important for the needs of the 21st Century literacy learners. This is where I come
in. From my attached resume, you will find out that I have been teaching English
Communication Skills courses for more than 10 years, and I have realized that these years of
experience have brought me priceless skills, wisdom and knowledge that I selflessly share with
my students.
Due to my strong background in teaching, I intend to use my skills to advocate the importance of
ESL for learning. I look forward to discussing with you how my background and skills can and
may be utilized to further the advocacy of teachers like me. Please feel free to contact me
through the information listed on my resume. I would be more than willing to come for an
interview anytime at your convenience.
Thank you very much.
Respectfully,
Nestor J. Mercado
