• Responsible for the plant reliability, operation and financials utilizing matching concepts and adjusting

processes, and total operations of six coal-fired (1500psi) boilers, six – 60 megawatt generators and

their associated equipment and 80 personnel (65 union, 15 management). Five years zero lost time

accidents.

• Responsible for the plant maintenance and total operations of four ILB coal-fired (3600psi) super-

critical boilers, four – 600 megawatt (2400 megawatts total) generators and their associated

equipment and 103 personnel (94 union, 9 management). Including the plant coal unloading

equipment and various conveyor systems.

• Exceptional safety record with five years zero lost time accidents.

• Responsible for the innovation and re-growth of the Material Handling department including

Limestone and gypsum system using a yearly O&M budget.

• Experienced in the operations and implementation of various preventive maintenance and condition

based maintenance programs resulting in continuous plant and equipment reliability improvements.

Feb 2003 – Jan 2007 Interstate Brands Corporation

Chief Engineer / Regional Engineering Manager

• Developed a plant turn-around program to reduced downtime from 3.72% to 1.25% resulting in the plant

annual savings of $196K by implementing an all-hands preventative maintenance system utilizing lean

technics. Reduced departmental overtime by $58 K the first year. Three years with zero accidents.

• Organized and developed a comprehensive parts inventory and replenishment system, and Energy

Conservation program saving $63K from previous year budget spending.

• Implemented and directed a $4.3M plant upgrade to the Rocky Mount, NC bakery while energizing and

developing subordinates. Completed project on time and under budget.

• Directed and coordinated the Engineering operations and systems of nine large bakeries and 240

personnel using positive collaboration and change management procedures to emphasize the

functions of engineering, new equipment layouts, system designs, construction, preventative

maintenance and environmental compliance. Six of the nine plants ranked in the top ten of sixty-three

plants.

Sept 2001 – Feb 2003 Georgia-Pacific Corporation

Maintenance Manager

Responsible for the managerial operation, equipment readiness, equipment reliability and routine preventative and predictive

maintenance of the facility supervising eighteen maintenance technicians, and preparing reports and budget analysis for $100K

monthly spending budget.

Implemented a scheduled preventative maintenance program which resulted in achieving ISO 9000 status and World Class

Maintenance Status four months ahead of schedule. Used team concepts to design all new projects and installations in both the

electrical and mechanical fields. Partnered with Cincinnati State to develop an Electro-mechanical course creating technically

qualified maintenance personnel.

Increase plant uptime by 4% using continual cross-department reviews and evaluation of the installed administration systems

resulting in the saving of $6K a month.

Led two departments in developing a design specification procedure for accurate set points for center-lining machinery for

quick set ups, reducing set up times by more than seventy-five percent.

Jan 1998 – Sep 2001 Box USA, Inc.

Maintenance Manager / Environmental Coordinator

Given total responsibility for the performance management changes and upkeep of all plant machinery and building systems.

Developed training documentation for all technicians. Conducted monthly OSHA and environmental inspections, trained

personnel on water-treatment procedures. Championed supervisor leadership program and employee interactions maintaining

the strategic plan.

Directly responsible for the $1.2M turnaround the first year by reducing downtime, increasing production, reducing labor

waste, and developing a preventative maintenance and parts management system.

Jun 1996 – Jan 1998 International Paper Company

Corrugator Supervisor / Maintenance Manager

Responsible for the maintenance of all corrugated box producing machinery and the supporting equipment including three

350 lb. package boiler units and boiler water chemistry program. Directed eighteen maintenance technicians, 35 production

workers, and 15 shipping personnel.

Developed and implemented all safety and personnel training for maintenance and the corrugator team.

Supervised and managed the $1.6M installation of a corrugator’s dry-end, one day ahead of schedule and $25 K under

budget.

May 1976 – Sep 1996 United States Navy

Main Propulsion Assistant / Chief Warrant Officer CW04

Responsible for the material condition and readiness of the ships main propulsion plants, high pressure boilers, ship’s water

quality program, electrical generating and distribution systems, fueling systems and associated auxiliary equipment. ASME

quality assurance inspector.

Directed and supervised the daily routine and morale welfare of approximately 250 personnel in eight divisions. Certified high

pressure propulsion boiler inspector (1200psi) for CINCPACFLT, technical advisor for all engineering systems, training, machinery

layouts and rebuilds.

Planned preventative maintenance schedules and all clerical programs, including machinery records, blueprints, technical

manuals and training programs. Identified and developed budgets and long-term plans (5 years) for equipment improvements

and modifications.
