Work Experience:
Academic Advisor, UK SACB (Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau), London, Dec 2010
- Present
. The students under my remit are all sponsored by the Saudi Arabian
Ministry of Education.
. I am the first point of contact for students and provide assistance in
helping them learn how to make practical academic plans and decisions
based on their stated goals, interests and abilities, how to discover
a range of options available to them in terms of information, advice
and support, and how to think through the consequences of their own
choices, amongst other things.
. I provide accurate information about policies, procedures and
requirements relating to the scholarship scheme and assist students in
understanding the rationale and potential behind them.
. I create positive working relationships with students and staff at the
universities and the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia. I report
back to the Ministry of Education on students' progress, as well as
any changes or causes for concern, so that the service the students
receive can be tailor-made to ensure they fulfil their academic
potential and get the most out of their experience in the UK.
Arabic Database Administrator, World Business Research, London, Summer 2010
. Worked on a database of companies that had previously attended an
international defence exhibition in Dubai.
. Received comprehensive training on the database itself to understand
what it was for, who used it and what other systems it linked to, as
well as its structure and how it organised, found and displayed the
data.
. Thereafter gathered up-to-date information through internet research
or by calling the companies directly where complete details could not
be obtained online.
. Inputted the data into the database, ensuring the pre-determined
quality and quantity was met at all times (entering it in the correct
fields with no spelling mistakes etc.)
. Ensured the database remained backed-up and secure, and reported any
errors.
