major in Marine Biology from Visayas State University. I want to apply any available position
that suits my skills, knowledge and experience. With regards of my degree I am well trained in
research and field works.
I’ve been an Aquarium Specialist in Boracay Oceanarium at Crown Regency Resort and
Convention Center, Boracay Island, Philippines. This work involves having responsibility for the
freshwater and marine aquatic systems. The work requires a lot of cleaning as well as feeding,
monitoring animal health and water quality, setting up and maintaining new exhibits, and
observing the behaviour of wild animals in the aquarium to ensure that they are living in as
close to natural environment as possible.
Currently I am a Water Quality Analyst at Manila Ocean Park (China Oceanis Philippines, Inc.),
Metro Manila, Philippines. In where the work involves maintaining good water quality of the
aquarium to ensure healthy fish, by everday monitoring of all water parameters. At the same
time, I do work not only about water concerns but do the work beyond my position, I do
vacuum and cleaning tanks, do Animal drug care, treat tanks and fishes being infected by
parasites etc., handle fishes and feed.

Responsibilities/Duties:
First thing in the morning do the rounds for pH, temperature and salinity testing
•
in:
Oceanarium, which includes Small tanks (Seven Seas), Medium tanks (Lost
Atlantis and Jungle Trek), Main tanks (Tunnel, Deep Sea, Shark tank and Over
Hang tank) and Quarantine tanks.
Jelly Bar, special tanks that requires chiller.
Hotel tanks, Aquaroom includes Reef fishes tanks and Jelly fish tank
SRE, Sharks and Rays Encounter.
Sea lion Habitat
Water Treatment Tanks and Reservior and more.
Encodes data and report to Supervisor and dept. heads verbally and send
through email for daily report.
Maintaining good water quality of the aquarium (freshwater and saltwater) to
•
ensure healthy fishes.
Communicate in every assigned aquarist for water quality concerns.
•
Every first day of the week do the ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential) testing in
•
particular areas, tanks with ozone generators.
Atleast once a month do the Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate testing (HACH,
•
spectrophotometer) in particular tanks. For emergency cases such as undefined
death and even normal death (etc.) testing is in need. Includes also chlorine and
Chloramine content, phosphate, copper etc.
BOD and Total Coliform testing once a month conducted by outside laboratory
•
(Registered).
Cooperate with assigned aquarist in maintaining pH of the water with the used of
•
pH buffer.
Administer Iodine Crystals for tanks with sharks, to ensure that they receive the
•
proper amount of iodine in their diet. Also it purifies water.
Do paper works/office works such as PR (Purchase Request), Negotiate with
•
Suppliers, Work Permits, Inventory (Lab equipments).
Conducts Presentation/Seminar in the department about water quality.
•
Do Monthly Report (Graph) in Monitoring pH, temperature and Salinity.
•
Do proper acclimatization procedure for new fishes arrival and transferring of
•
fihes from one tank to another tanks.
Do also ADC (Animal Drug Care)
•
Prescribe and Administer Vitamins for Oceanarium fishes.
Do treatment in tanks infected by parasites, bacteria.

Responsibilities/Duties:
• Work under the direction of an aquarium curator, who manages the displays and
operations at an aquarium.
• Handles fish and other animal life in an aquarium.
• Clean the tanks, and algae from the glass through which the public views the
fish.
Do siphon/vacuum in the substrate (coral chips)
Clean up Biofilter, do vacuum or move it up if necessary and wash with
feshwater/tap water.
• Prepares food for aquarium animals with its proper diet, quantity and sizes of
the fish foods.
• Responsible for ensuring that the life within an aquarium (fishes,
Echinoderm,Crustaceans) is fed properly according to the schedule and ensure
that they are living in as close to natural environment as possible.
• Responsible in monitoring the life support system in every tanks that being
assigned.
• Observes fish to detect disease and injuries, reports condition to supervisor,
aquarium curator, and treats fish according to instructions.
• Do proper acclimatization in every arrival of new fishes, and transferring fish
from old tank to new one.
• Do checklist at the end of the shift, report to aquarium curator for
behavioral observation in aquarium fishes, such as unusual behavoir, incase of
problem in life support system, lights, aquarium and more.
