● Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS)
1420 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO USA 80918
Expected Graduation: Spring 2015
Technical Skills
Software: 3D CAD & Systems Software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Lab View, MATLAB
MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi
Unrelated Course Work: Technical Writing & Presentation Principles of Marketing
Technical Course Experience
Senior Design – Solid Works creation of sheet metal fan replaceable unit to a bulkhead
with stability, usability, and weight and cost analysis. Testing of vibration mitigation per
unit design using accelerometers to collect data within MATLAB for analysis. Developed
problem specification with the customer, had exposure to professional level Design
Review, and completed an in-depth design process from start to finish of the product.
Engineering Measurements – Usage of Lab View to create engineering circuits to test
run and calculate data. Analysis of measurement devices and tolerances to determine
statistics for accurate designs
MATLAB – Simple categorization, menu creation, mathematical and specific case
functions. Simulation of equations to 3D plots: statistical and cel estial orbits (two-body).
Materials Engineering – Analysis of material properties: tensile calculations, grain
boundaries, and more... Heat treating, grinding and polishing lab for material rods.
Tensile testing and comparative analysis for different material specimens.
Machine Design – The bending analysis of AutoCAD beams, notched rods and pipes.
Yielding analysis across each of the 3D figures within CAD and determination of
maximum and minimum stresses. Calculations and analysis of fatigue failure resulting
from variable loading and life cycles determination.
Heat and Mass – Analysis of heat transfer through various materials. Usage of ComSol
analysis regarding different shapes of metals: rectangular, plate, spherical or rod. Fin
analysis and fluid dynamics using Bernoulli’s equation.
