09/06 - 07/14
Celanese Chemicals
Research Technician / Operator in an acetic acid pilot plant. Duties included
complete operation of the unit through DCS control, sampling of the product,
lab analyses, close communication with the unit chemist and supervision, safe
handling of several chemicals known to be IDLH, maintenance of the unit,
changing out tubing (swagelok), tube bending, starting up and shutting down the
unit in a safe manner as well as yearly turnarounds. The unit is a fully operational
complex including reaction, distillation, flash vessel, exchangers, phase vessel
and numerous accumulators. Lab analysis was performed through GC, titration
and spectrophotometry (UV-VIS). Other duties included ordering and receiving
stock of all chemicals, tools, PPE, lab supplies and various items of need. I was
also assigned the responsibilities of team leader as well as training coordinator for
my unit. Other duties included but not limited to were writing SOP's, JSA's and
scheduling our year end turnarounds.
03/06 - 09/06
S&S Professional Services, Houston TX
Lab Technician at Nova Molecular Technologies. Responsibilities involve
the daily operation of an autoclave reactor in the production of nitrile
amines. This includes hydrogenation of the product, sampling, hourly
readings, draining and refilling the reactor, as well as lab analyses. Lab
analyses are performed by gas chromatography. Base addition is also
performed by using sample “bombs”.
10/04 – 1/06 Site Safety Officer
DH Griffin of Texas, Houston TX
Site safety for a demolition company, mostly on the industrial side. Duties
included responsibility for the overall safety of an industrial demolition
crew of approximately 10 laborers. This involved, but was not limited to,
originating daily safety topics, writing JSA’s, inspections on safety
equipment, weekly safety audits and attending the customer’s safety
meetings. In addition I also acted as company liaison, performing customer
service for our company as well as our subcontractors. Other responsibilities
included training workers on the proper use of PPE and on site orientation.
I was also responsible for the inventory of all on site safety equipment.
3/02 - 5/04 Field Supervisor
Environmental Response of Texas, Houston TX
Supervision of a crew of approximately 10 laborers in mold and asbestos
abatement. Duties included completion of daily paperwork such as sign-in
logs, containment entry logs, employee time sheets, time & material sheets
and respirator logs. Responsibilities also encompassed daily and weekly
safety meetings. In addition to this I was also responsible for customer
relations, such as meeting with insurance adjustors to perform preliminary
job walks and meeting with homeowners for job start-ups. I was also
accountable for meeting with homeowners to do follow-up procedures to
ensure customer satisfaction including punch out reports. During slower
periods I also helped in warehouse conducting monthly inventories on
equipment and supplies, as well as, checking equipment in and out.
8/00 – 2/01 Process Technician
CCR Technologies, Inc., Houston TX
Reclamation and purification of amines, glycols and petrochemicals used in
refineries, gas plants, petrochemical plants, antifreeze and aircraft deicing.
This was accomplished through vacuum distillation and provided by mobile
units. Duties included total control of the process, removing pumps and
process equipment for repairs and laboratory/data analysis. Lab analyses
involved product specifications and quality assurance. I also assisted
supervisor in logistics and performed monthly inventory on all tools and
equipment.
4/84 - 6/00 Chemical Process Technician
Equistar Chemicals, La Porte TX
Responsibilities included the daily operations of the Polypropylene unit. This
included the overall production of a 52,000 PPH reactor, movement and
blending of all final product as well as the operation of two purifying columns.
I was also responsible for the operation of three extruders with a total
production capability of 60,000 PPH. In addition to this I was accountable for
keeping accurate reading documents, safe handling of aluminum alkyls and
general upkeep of the unit. My duties also included emergency response for
gas releases, fires and rescue of plant personnel. While at this location I met
with our quality committee to review customer complaints and concerns in
order to better ourselves and further our quality commitment.
