Position and secure work pieces on machine using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools,

and

hoists

Verify alignment of work pieces on machine, using measuring instruments such as rules gauges of

calipers

Observe machining operation and adjust control as needed to ensure conformance with specified

tolerances while also listening to detect sounds of faulty cutters and loose work pieces

Remove and replace dull cutting tools, touch off new tools and establish offsets

Remove work pieces from machines, and check to ensure that they conform to specifications using

measuring equipment such as microscopes, gauges, calipers and micrometers
