Major Component Change-Out (engines, transmissions, torque converters, wheel stations, undercarriage).

Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance duties of surface construction and mining equipment including inspection of hoses, leaks, loose components or mountings, damaged parts, checking of fluid levels, replacement of air, oil, fuel filters, oils, coolants and greasing necessary points.

Identifying malfunction and troubleshooting major breakdowns, diagnosing using visual inspections and measuring components against manufacturer tolerances. Using measuring tools including dial gauges, pressure gauges, Vernier calipers, micrometer, refractometer.

Rebuilding and repairing duties, including hydraulic pump rebuilding including replacement pistons, seals, gaskets and bearings.

Using VIMS (Vital Information Management System) to download data from the machinery which indicates abusive operation of equipment, recorded faults and with factory support, work on any product recalls.

Troubleshooting using electronic diagnostic equipment (ET) and carry out repairs following workshop manuals and schematic drawings.

Field service work including servicing tracks, including track guards, rollers, bogey pins, idlers and master links on actual track.

On power shift transmissions: checking pump drive and main drive shaft, spiders, hoses and operation through timing of operation against manufacturers specifications.

Work on hydraulic pump drives, including drive shaft boots and check for excessive play. Test and check ancillary equipment on the machines
