PILGRIM’S PRIDE ~ 2014 to Current

Plant Manager – Douglas, GA

Over seeing Daily operations of a Large Bird slaughter and debone facility. Plant budgeted head killed is 1.25M per week. Debone 100% of front halves, back half pack for export as leg quarters. Responsible for 900 team members. Since I have been in Douglas we have seen an improvement of 1.2% breast to live and wog yield improvement of .65%. Wog yield improvement has been a challenge due to back half yield, due to breed of bird currently processing. Have been involved in new chiller installation and start up April 22, 2015. Have created and implemented debone incentive program for our team members to where they are able to make up to $17.00 per hour more if all goals are meet.

TYSON FOODS, INC ~ 2008 to July 2014

Operation Specialist III- Manufacturing Services, Fayetteville, AR

Main focus of this position is to train and develop KPI’s and SOP’s with in the processes.

Responsibilities include cost saving initiatives and yield improvements in processing operations. Projects that have been assigned and have been successful are as follows; Robards, KY. 2010 FY savings 2.5M consist of breast to live improvement of 1% and improvement in overall yield, direct labor and line efficiency in standard costing. During the time spent in Robards, KY I was interim Maintenance Superintendent and Assistant Plant Manager until these positions were filled.

WOG Yield Improvement team savings 3.6M over nine kill locations for FY 2010.

Interim Plant Manager Pine Bluff FY 2011, Process improvement and training Management Staff on Raw side of the Operation. Over 4 months spent at plant improved in Agri Stats WOG yield by 1.22% (3C Standard costing improved WOG yield by approx. 5%) and Breast to Live by 3.36% (with TSS installed and improved cuts and shell quality).

Other duties that I have been involved in over the FY 2012 is working with Production Management Teams on Line Eff, which has lead me to be concentrating on the Maintenance Management Teams and hourly team members on proper use of Tyson SAP Maintenance PM program with our teams in South Georgia and Alabama locations to improve planning, PM programs to improve the locations Evisceration Line Eff%.

FY 2012, I was involved in WOG Yield and Breast to Live improvements at our Berry Street location which we showed an overall savings for the year an estimated WOG Yield increase by .75% = $1,487,160.00 and BTL Yield increase by 1.73% = $3,541,408.00.

International involvements: November 2011 – June 2014

Tyson China Jiangsu Plant startup and training began 11-22-2011 completed 5-12-2012. During the startup of the new facility, I was assigned to train in all areas of the process and then assigned to write and train on the proper SOP’s and BMP’s. After Jiangsu start up and training I was directed by Tyson China COO to work with China engineers and processing managers to improve efficiencies and improve yields at other Tyson China locations (Changyi and Rizhao).

Operation audits at our Tyson India locations, these audits were covered with upper management of Tyson Foods and the Godreji Corporation (Joint Venture). We completed writing SOP’s for operations and setting up further training. Plant Manager Training and Production Manager training at our India locations, implemented line eff reports, updated all SOP’s, etc., completed hours of hands on training from kill through debone and cut-up with Plant Managers and Production Managers. Also working side by side with India’s COO on Market visits and projects that need to be completed to continue processing improvements. Completed India duties as of June 14, 2013

Brazil operations spent form January – June 2014 spending time at Tyson de Brazil locations training in basic operations skills from Live receiving through Packout, locations visited were Itaiopolis and Sao Jose. The Itaiopolis location was where I spent majority of my time, as training was implemented with the team at this location and the team took ownership of their areas of responsibility the team begin to show great improvements in WOG yield from 76.64% to 80.97% over the 5 month time frame and BTL 20.69% to 23.15%.

Sao Jose location implemented a new technique on deboning front halves which the plant is currently showing improvements based off last report. Plant Implemented new tumble mairnation SOP’s to increase mairnation pickups and yield improvements.

Specialize in Live receiving through cut-up, debone and IQF, with basic knowledge of future processing.

BUTTERBALL, LLC ~ 2006 to 2008

Plant Manager – Huntsville, AR

Duties included: responsible for the daily operations of the Whole bird/Debone plant, which consist of Evisceration, Packaging, Debone, BRT/BIB, Smoke and Bake and HACCP. Other duties include daily meetings with plant management staff, reviewing results such as yields, plant cost, savings projects, plant overtime, staffing, and overall budget of the plant; and other various plant wide functions, as well as maintaining communication with USDA.

This team was put together to redesign Tyson Engineering and Operations support by using Dr. Hammer methodology. This team is made up of 2 team members from Operation Support, 2 team members from Tyson Engineering, 1 team member from Operations and 1 team member from I.T. department. Our goal was to combine the two departments to make them more efficient and easier to do business with.

As engineer, my duties included training of management within the plant on the Scanvaegt net weight system. Other duties included training and startup of the Scanvaegt net weight system in Monroe, NC. Additional duties included maintaining and troubleshooting the net weight system and handling communication with Scanvaegt and Tyson Corp. I.T. Department regarding issues. Also worked with Supervisors and General Production Managers to fully utilize the Scanvaegt graders to reduce giveaway and run more efficiently on the net weight products. Responsible for all CIR’s within the complex and special projects within the plant.
