ITT NIGHT VISION, Roanoke, VA 2005 - 2010

Environment, Safety and Health Project Manager 2009 – 2010

Developed and Implemented New Safety Improvement Implementation Process to increase Safety Awareness among 1500 site employees and reduce OSHA related incidents by 20% over first year. Participation in program up 50% in 1st Quarter 2010 as a result of this new ‘Incentive Based’ program.

Developed and applied an online, lean Safety Inspection Application Form for Production data entry and data mining to increase safety awareness throughout the plant to a level of 50% participation by years end. Current participation rate is 25%.

Acted as a Local Ambassador for ITT Watermark. Recruited 17 new members in a 6 month period, and spear-headed projects, including Water Education and Awareness, within my Community Service Area.

Established a New Safety Awareness Program for entire site. Communication of new program (Take Care – Be Aware) consisted of graphically designed banners and posters strategically placed throughout site to increase safety awareness and decrease OSHA recordable incidents by 10% over first year.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt 2007 – 2009

Lead and participated in several Kaizen events within Night Vision Production facility to drive Cycle Time Reduction within entire organization by utilizing the DMAIC process. Both Production and Transactional events were held regularly to drive costs down. Transactional efforts drove Realization savings of $45K per year; Production efforts drove Realization savings of $125K per year.

Completed Black Belt certification project which automated a cumbersome manual paper tracking process by utilizing laser technology to introduce barcodes directly onto product. This effort eliminated the potential of product mismatches in the field and associated costly fines and potential plant shutdown.

Completed Black Belt training project which automated a manual polishing process of a product component. By using the DMAIC process, proper etch times and rates were determined; the automated Buehler polishing system is now in production. Estimated realization of this implementation is $65K per year.

Mentored several Green Belt candidates and attained a Green Belt certification rate of 75% among my students.

Provided training and teaching of several Green Belt modules to over 60 students. This included statistical analysis (Control Charts, Process Capability, Variation and Basic Stats) and Soft Skill training (Influencing others, Conflict Management, Team Working, Given and Receiving Feedback).
