Buyer

Responsible for quoting and launching of new components in Fuel Injection, Nitrous

Oxide Systems, Earl’s Plumbing, Carbs, Hooker and Flowtech exhaust headers

Main commodities include screw machine components, CNC machining, anodizing,

tubing, wiring harnesses, overseas sourcing, springs, wireforms, fuel pumps and electrical components

Conduct quality audits at both new suppliers and existing ones to ensure suppliers are

meeting quality, delivery and cost expectations

Lead Corrective Action efforts for suppliers that fail to meet quality, delivery and cost

targets.

Achieve cost reduction targets through sourcing, consolidation, negotiation and annual

contract purchase orders

Assist Production Control with supplier delivery issues as needed to support the

Provide annual forecasting to select suppliers and develop stocking programs to

In 2012 my buy was $7.3M while managing 146 suppliers and 4,000 part numbers

In 2012 a savings of $180K and avoidances of $84K were generated through sourcing

and negotiation.

2013 savings in the amount of $364K and avoidances of $81K

2013 buy $8.1M while managing 174 suppliers and over 4,200 part numbers.

2014 buy $11.9M (while managing 234 suppliers and over 5,800 part numbers.

February 2008 – September 2010 Franklin Precision Industry, Franklin, KY

Senior Buyer

Responsible for all quoting from prototype to mass production for Fuel Cut Off Valves, Air Control Intake Systems (ACIS), and Actuators

Visit suppliers to ensure schedules are being met for tooling, PPAP submission, and SOP readiness

Purchase all 383 aluminum ingots used in die casting operation

Track pricing and report trends for virgin 383 aluminum material and monthly usage of re-claim material

Expedite component parts as necessary to support unexpected changes in customer requirements and/or manufacturing schedule.

Responsible for new component part launches for air bag inflators being sold via Tier II to Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Delphi.

Negotiate tooling cost and component part pricing of new part launches based on targets received from Daicel parent company in Japan.

Frequently visit suppliers to ensure schedule for tooling, PPAP submission, and SOP are met per requirements for new product launches.

Develop purchasing plan for all import components including a 6 month rolling forecast and communicate this information to Daicel parent company in Japan.

Provide forecasts and delivery dates to domestic suppliers for parts being exported to Daicel parent company in Japan. Communicate with both domestic supplier and Japan to ensure schedule is firm and delivery dates are met.

Assist Daicel SQE with annual supplier audits to all domestic suppliers to ensure compliance with QS9000 and TS16949.

Provide suppliers long term forecasts to ensure necessary steps are taken to improve capacity as needed to support Daicel demand.

Lead annual discussions with domestic suppliers concerning APR targets.

Assist Buyer as needed concerning delivery and pricing issues of domestic suppliers.

Work closely with Logistics Supervisor to implement “Real Time” inventory system in order to support TPS goals.

Responsible for purchasing all air bag component parts by implementing a monthly purchasing plan and a rolling 6 month forecast to all suppliers.

Work closely with Daicel quality department on any supplier quality issues for all component parts.

Assist Daicel SQE with annual supplier audits to all domestic suppliers to verify compliance with QS9000 and TS16949 standards.

Pursue cost reductions through negotiation.

Send quarterly Supplier Performance Reports to each component parts supplier that grades them on delivery, PPM, price, and customer service.

Expedite product as needed to support manufacturing schedule in order to meet changing customer demands.
