Description:

DWH-POC is an SLK internal project under COE (Center Of Excellence) team, Where COE would be performing Proof of Concepts on Tools / Applications & Technologies which are pipelined for discovery phases in Organization level. DWH-POC assembled a team for doing discovery phase on BIS (Business Intelligence System) which has Proof of Concepts on Source systems, ETL (Extraction Transform Load) tools, Reporting Tools & DWH concepts. I was part of Reporting Tool POC with OBIEE technology using Oracle database as source with prebuilt & some newly created schemas for using as meta data to OBIEE & covered entire analysis on tool & conducted some brainstorming sessions with team members to make aware everyone aware how tool works, pre-requisites and best practices

Responsibilities:

Involved in OBIEE 11g installation (Oracle database, RCU (Repository Creation Utility)

Understanding architecture of OBIEE & also learnt some information with respect to environment setup / operating system required for using OBIEE in machine

Understood some security/Admin topics (user creation, performance related) in EM (enterprise manager) & Console

About the Project:

Emerson manufactures Aluminum Coils that are used for interior designing, infrastructure development etc. For Emerson manufacturing and supplying these aluminum coils, we developed Dashboards like Procurement Dashboard, Purchase Order Dashboard, Production Scheduling, Inventory, Account Payables and Account Receivables

Responsibilities:

Understanding the business practice in Emerson for manufacturing units which needs to be implemented for Reporting tool as OBIEE.

Many customizations are required to leverage the existing RPD Design to make it available for reports.

Involved in RPD design for customizations, new development for some modules like Inventory, Indirect Material Dashboards

Performed Repository Testing and validation before exposing Business Models in the Presentation layer.

Developed different kinds of reports (pivots, charts, tabular) using Filters.

Encountered some issues in performance & utilized ETL team to get aggregate tables for some fact tables which has low grain of data, So built new SUB & AGG tables to use different grain of data so that number of rows reduces & retrieves report in less time

Provided support for Account Payables dashboards

Done some workaround for challenging requests which can’t be done directly in OBIEE.

Participating with customer in weekly calls for updating progress on action items

Used Seeding Cache for some long running reports to get cache & also scheduled agents for these reports
