RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Texas A&M University – College Station, TX Aug. 2011- Present
Graduate Research Assistant
Dissertation: Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Impact Loads on Group of Piles
Sponsor: U.S. Department of State (DOS)
Experimentation
• Designed two full-scale crash tests (+two full scale static tests) on pile groups impacted by
trucks using LS DYNA (Livermore Software Technology Corporation, LSTC, 2010).
• Collaborated with the researchers and crash crew at Texas Transportation Institute (TTI).
• Coordinated the in-situ and laboratory testing, performed/assisted geotechnical site
characterization activities.
• Involved leading data acquisition, preparing geotechnical data and writing reports.
Numerical Modeling and Simulation
• Performed extensive crash test simulations using the state-of-art numerical code LS-DYNA
• Developed detailed finite element models suitable for use in crash analyses.
• Studied numerical simulation of pile-beam-soil interaction, modeling material models,
contacts algorithms, performed parametric study.
Analytical modeling and Programming
• Developed a computationally efficient model “TAMU-POST” (coded using MATLAB) to
predict the lateral response of pile groups under impact loading through a nonlinear impact
analysis.
• Performed the model calibration and optimized the model parameters based on the datasets
experimentally and numerically collected.
• Investigated the soil-pile interaction and characterized the soil behavior in particular soil
damping under impacts.
• Practical recommendations are drawn to design Anti-Ram Barriers.

Graduate Research Assistant
Master Thesis: Study of Wave Amplification and Site Response Analysis in Alluvial Zones
• Performed geo-seismic studies to generate microzonation maps for the harbor Mahshahr
located in the south of Iran (A case study).
• Compared site response analysis approaches: the equivalent linear method using ProSHAKE
and the fully nonlinear approach using FLAC.
• Studied the finite difference modeling efficiency in prediction of seismic soil response.
