Sales order has steps like Confirmation, Picking, Packing, and Invoice, while posting Picking,
system should check whether Confirmation is posted and allow the posting accordingly,
similarly while posting Packing and Invoice, system should check predecessor session
postings. Sales order and Purchase order processing in typical scenarios in organizations will
be handled by different departments like Sales/ Purchase, Warehouse and Finance; in majority
of industries these departments are located geographically in different locations. Dynamics AX
has flexible sales and purchase process where in user can post the invoice and system will
complete/post the predecessor steps like Confirmation, Picking List, and Packing Slip. In

Dynamics AX2009 new features are introduced to address the above process by the way of
making packing slip and picking list mandatory for the items based on their Inventory Model
Group settings. Another feature at AR, AP parameters, customer and vendor level to define
sales cycles.
