EDUCATION

Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ

Doctor of Philosophy in Physics, Advisor- Dr.Stuart Lindsay 2012

State University of New York, Albany, NY

Masters of Science in Physics 2006

University of Delhi, India

Masters of Science in Solid State Physics 2004

University of Delhi, India

Bachelors of Science in Physics 2002

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

North Carolina State University, Department of Physics, Raleigh, NC Present-2012

Postdoctoral Researcher

• Design and conduct experiments to study the behavior of various proteins ( Shelterin and

Cohesin) and their interactions with DNA leading to an understanding of cancer

progression and its remedies . Biophysical characterization of Shelterin and Cohesin

proteins. Characterizing the Shelterin and cohesion proteins based on their interaction

with the telomeric DNA. Conducting optimization studies for the TRF2, TRF1, SA1 and

SA2 proteins. Analyzing and interpreting the experimental data and writing reports.

Arizona State University, Single Molecule Biophysics, Tempe, AZ 2012

Postdoctoral Researcher

• Design and conduct experiments and techniques for analyzing and characterizing

methylation patterns in chromatin extracted from cancer and normal human cell lines.

With methylation being one of the causes of cancer, the methylation patterns in different

cell lines (cancerous and normal) can provide great insights into the mechanism of gene

silencing which leads to cancer.

Bristol Myers Squibb, New Jersey

Summer Intern 2009

• Developed the techniques and methods for analyzing and charactering domain

antibodies and their interactions with their cognates to understand the factors

affecting the half-life of domain antibodies.

Arizona State University, Single Molecule Biophysics, Tempe, AZ 2007 - 2012

Research Associate

• Investigated the effects of methylation on the artificially reconstituted chromatin arrays

• Investigated the interactions of artificially reconstituted methylated chromatin with

methyl CpG binding proteins

• Investigated how methylation of the DNA in CpG islands leads to the silencing of the

gene expression.

• Studied the distribution of epidermal growth factor receptors and obtained the first live

cell recognition images of the CPA (Barrett Esophageal) cells using Atomic Force

Microscopy (AFM).

• Collaborated with Agilent Technologies in testing new products and helped in

troubleshooting new products.

• Developed techniques to isolate and study chromatin from human cell lines.

• Obtained collaborators, trained teams, supervised graduate and undergraduate researchers

and maintained instruments.

• Worked proficiently in techniques involving Organic synthesis, Dynamic light Scattering,

Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Atomic force microscopy, cell culture, chromatin and DNA

isolation, gel electrophoresis.

AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Selected to present my research in the Annual Physical Sciences Oncology Centre (PSOC)

Conference in the Young Investigator meet 2012, Florida.

• Taught the summer session Physics course (Electricity and Magnetism) as an Instructor for

summer 2014 – (class of 72 students) to the Engineering class in Department of Physics,

North Carolina State University.

• Current Research featured on the cover page of the Microfluidics journal with the article.

• In reviewer database of Biomedical Nanotechnology journal and Reviewed articles for the

Journal of Biotechnology and Biomaterials and Nano Research.
