Key Skills and Accomplishments
Third Party Application Management and Vendor Relationships – Fostered a long-term, productive partnership with Sungard, the vendor provider of Morgan Keegan’s books-and-records application, Phase3. Contributed to development and maintenance of over 1,000 programs that enhanced, interacted, and interfaced with the Sungard Phase3 application, encompassing functions such as accounting and general ledger; payroll; corporate action processing; correspondence; trading platforms; regulatory reporting; and much more.
member of Information Technology Leadership team – Served along Chief Information Officer and other Information Technology Directors on the ITL team that was responsible for developing policies and procedures for the Information Technology department at Morgan Keegan and for making it a premier IT environment. As a part of the ITL, helped lead initiatives to create a Project Management Organization (PMO) group; develop and test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) procedures; initiatives concerning Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and data security; change control and incident management initiatives; and much more.
Conversion and Integration Oversight – Developed programs and processes to handle conversions of 250,000+ newly acquired account/portfolio data into Morgan Keegan systems. Following Raymond James’ acquisition of Morgan Keegan, led team that designed and developed the processes and programs used to deliver off Morgan Keegan data to Raymond James, totaling 500,000+ accounts, $6.3 billion+ in balances, and over 2 million portfolio positions.
Senior-Level Software Development – Led initiative to develop Morgan Keegan’s critically important broker desktop application, MORNET, utilized by the Morgan Keegan financial advisors for portfolio maintenance, monitoring account relationships, order entries, and cost-basis reporting. Also, designed and developed the Corporate Action subsystem that interfaced with Morgan Keegan’s books-and-records application, Phase3. This included database tables and files, screens, server processes, customer and Financial Advisor notifications and confirmations. By developing this system in-house for the Morgan Keegan Operations department, hundreds of man-hours were saved each week along with reducing the number of manual errors when processing corporate actions.
Application Performance and Metrics – Led initiative to develop programs and processes necessary to monitor core applications at Morgan Keegan. These programs and processes either automatically made adjustments to fine tune the applications or supplied metrics to Senior IT Management to make decisions regarding changes to the applications. Also developed metrics-gathering scripts and processes that helped build month-end reporting for the Morgan Keegan Executive team and Senior IT Management.

General Manager, Business Technology, Information Technology
Following the acquisition of Morgan Keegan by Raymond James in 2012, led Morgan Keegan IT developers and analysts in collaboration with Raymond James IT personnel to successfully create, test, and implement processes to extract and migrate Morgan Keegan data into the proper Raymond James platforms and databases. Aided senior management officials with efforts to retain and integrate acquired IT personnel into new roles.
* Led process of “sun-setting” the Sungard Phase3 application and other Morgan Keegan legacy applications.
* Developed and improved processes and programs related to Raymond James’ back-office SIS in collaboration with the IT-Securities Processing team.
MORGAN KEEGAN & CO, Memphis, TN 1990 – 2012
Director, Software Development (2008 – 2012)
Directed team of 45+ developers and analysts that oversaw all software development efforts at Morgan Keegan. These five (5) teams consisted of HP NonStop developers working in COBOL85 and distributed team developers working primarily in C#. These teams were responsible for development and maintenance of the core applications at Morgan Keegan.
* As member of the Chief Information Officer’s IT Leadership team, co-managed a robust IT budget of $70 million, annually; established critical IT policies and procedures; spearheaded efforts to foster a healthy morale and work environment.
* Established change control procedures and vetted change requests as a member of the IT Change Administration Board (CAB).
* Consulted with other business units to review and vet IT project requests.
Manager, Software Development (1996 – 2007)
Led staff of 10-15 developers on the HP NonStop COBOL development team with responsibility for the Sungard Phase3 application. Took in monthly releases from Sungard Phase3, loaded them onto a development/staging platform, ran various tests on the updates, and then implemented these updates onto production node. Oversaw the Sungard Phase3 database on the HP NonStop that consisted of both Enscribe files and SQL (MP) tables. Ran measurements to monitor the growth and usage of key files and tables in the database, and re-partitioned files and tables for optimal performance.
* Authored variety of metrics reports to monitor application performance.
* Improved through-put and performance of application by re-scaling workloads.
* Successfully guided team in preparation for Y2K changes.
