Plants Manager - Granite Construction Company ( Indio, CA) 05/03–10/09
Construction materials manager for the Southern CA Branch. The business included 5 aggregate locations (granite, clay,
and sand & gravel), 4 asphalt plants, 5 portable rubber asphalt plants, 1 ready mix plant, and various portable
aggregate/recycle plants and facilities. Managed all sales and operations. Responsible for full P/L, annual budgets, and
capital expenditure projects. Leader of business expansion ventures including Greenfield projects and permitting of
reserves. Responsible for negotiations and justification of mining contracts as well as royalty, material lease, sales, and
labor agreements. Directed a union work-force team of up to 70 employees as well as 8 direct professional reports. Ave.

Established and managed the Engineering Dpt. for the SW Division for the Company. Responsible for plant production
and process improvements, mine expansion projects, and capital expenditure projects. Managed the design, justification,
and construction of new aggregate processing plants, material handling systems, and general mine infrastructure. Mines
served included limestone, granite, and sand & gravel.
*Developed financial models to justify, prioritize, and present capital expenditure projects and alternatives.
*Successfully managed the design, installation, and start-up of a major mine expansion project, a primary &
secondary aggregate processing plant, and a new ready-mix operation.

Operations Assistant - Vulcan Materials ( Lombard, I L) 05/94-06/97
Served operations and mines with the selection of mining equipment and methods, plant improvements, and drilling &
blasting activities. Operations included sand &gravel mines, limestone quarries, and a lime plant. Project Manager for
various capital projects as well as plant upgrades. Managed aggregate plant production as Interim Plant Superintendent.
Other responsibilities included year-end inventories, safety audits, environmental audits/inspections, mine plans,
management of exploration drilling, and development of geologic maps.
