Accomplishments: When I joined West Ridge Properties, we were losing money. I turned West Ridge profitable through sales of
underperforming properties, acquisitions of undervalued properties and expansion into rental homes.
EMBARQ/CENTURYLINK
Director, Credit and Collection Strategy (May-06 to Dec-09)
Developed models that simulated the financial and operational results of changes to credit, collection and fraud policies. These
results were used to create business cases to drive changes to these policies.
Accomplishments: As a result of Embarq’s spin off from Sprint, I launched all aspects of Embarq’s Credit and Collection
Strategy group including initial staffing, M&P development, vendor contracts and system development.
Developed system to detect Customers who were likely to experience high wireless overage charges. Developed process to
contact Customers and offer options to prevent high overage charges. This process resulted in a 25% reduction in Wireless bad
debt expense, a 45% reduction in average write-off amount and reduced churn by 10%.
Optimized credit policy which increased sales by ~10% and drove lifetime value of $15M for each year of sales .
SPRINT/Sprint-Nextel
Manager, Acquisition Strategy - Corporate Center Receivables (December-2002 to May-06)
Developed credit policy for wireless and wireline Applicants. Developed credit models and business cases to drive strategic
changes to credit policy.
Accomplishments: As a member of the Sprint/Nextel merger “Clean Room,” I created the new credit policy used by the
combined company on day 1 after the merger. This process included forecasting monthly Sales, Revenue, Bad Debt and Churn
for the combined company.
Optimized Credit policy which increased sales by ~7% and drove lifetime value of $24M for each year of sales .
Manager, Long Distance Receivables Management (April-2000 to December-2002)
Managed a staff of 40. Developed credit and collection strategy for Long Distance Receivables. Developed and tracked a
$150M+ bad debt budget and a 300 head period cost budget.
Accomplishments: Developed a mathematical process to calculate bad debt reserve requirements and bad debt expense run
rates that is still used today.
Developed a “Rate/Mix/Volume” approach to analyze bad debt expense variance. This approach provided structure to our bad
debt variance analysis efforts and improved our understanding of the root causes of changes in bad debt.
