My Portfolio/Representative Projects

Yankee Candle Company in Massachusetts

Industrial engineer lead - This was an industrial engineering process optimization project that helped the client design new

layouts to increase their productivity by over 50%. In additional created a capacity model, identify the bottleneck stations;

evaluated the tool list and layout from the client in order to generate the master utility matrix and the system capacity sizing.

Also, analyzed process optimization through collecting existing information from the manufacturing; worked closely with the

client to begin the optimization effort, developed options for manual or automated unit operations for the production lines.

Considerations included quality control, data gathering, volume, flexibility and typical trade-offs between labor and equipment,

reduce unnecessary steps in process. Each of the production lines was arranged relatively to each other, reflecting the initial

strategies to minimize travel distances for operators and piped raw materials, the combined use of process heating and cooling,

and opportunities to locate operators to manage process on more than one line at a time, and utilize the space better as well. In

addition, new layout options to reflect optimum logistics for materials, process equipment MIMO (move-in/move-out), and

personnel movements (including life safety zone). Working with architectural, mechanical and electrical department; reported

to PM and the client.

Confidential client, Arizona

Industrial engineer lead – Responsible for project scope, budget control, scheduling, communications, project delivery for a

human flow logistic study. Analyzed human flows through interviews, field surveys, time study, and data collection on the

travel frequency in a daily base (From / To). Identified congested areas and made adjustments to the travel destinations. Used

professional software called ProPlanner to analyze travel distance and repeatable processing operations, generated reports in

excel, autoCAD and powerpoint formats. Improved the current craft flow logistics entering and traversing the job site, identified

inefficiencies and recommend potential solutions, reduced the labor walking distance, cut the time spent on the road, in order to

reduce cost by at least 20% labor fee daily, and increased productivity. Working with 5 different contractor companies and

reported to the client.

Confidential Client, Oregon

Industrial Engineer Lead – Responsible for project scope, budget, staff, and schedule for existing equipment removal.

Provided project team management; budget control, project scheduling, meeting with clients in a daily base, existing

information analysis, system troubleshooting, design procedures development, submittal reviews, RFIs, walk downs, and

continuing engineering support for tool demolition; included management of general, electrical, mechanical, architectural,

structural design drawings; multidiscipline coordination. Working with more than 10 tool owners at the same time, reported to

the client.

Soitec, California

Industrial engineer Lead – Responsible for collecting and analyzing data from a construction field in San Diego in order to

prepare bid documentations for a solar company; also required cross-discipline coordination resulting from the analysis.

Organized and analysis of personnel and work procedures to determine motion and time study requirements for labor and

material cost estimating purpose. Recorded and analyzed every single procedure including break time, lunch time, distraction

time, idle time, difficulty time in a weekly base. Analyzed collected time study data, calculated the average time it took an

average worker by generated excel report, presented to client in a pie chart, and separated the cost into different categories in %

in terms of cost. Working with the company partner, and reported to the PM.

Sorra, California

Industrial engineer – Responsible for generating the utility matrix, developing the layout and evaluated the system capacity

for the existing facility. Starting from the client Tool List, developed a Production Equipment/Tool Utility Matrix as a basis for

sizing the systems. Matrix included equipment footprint, power, exhaust, water, drains, gas and chemical requirements.

Calculated utility demands to create building and process infrastructure equipment sizes, and basic system configuration

options. Also, developed a layout which utilized the space in the best situation, while applying tool/ human move-in/ move-out

principles. Working with Mechnical, Electrical, Process, and Architectural departments, and report to the lead and the PM.

Globalfoundries, New York

Industrial Engineer – Responsible for providing site utilities consumption analysis. Supporting other engineering disciplines

by reviewing database and identifying equipment of the cleanroom for the Fab and Spine building. This is a state-of-the-art

$4.2B manufacturing facility and wafer foundry at the Luther Forest Technology Campus in Saratoga County, New York.

Participated on the delivery package, working with Mechanical, Electrical, Process, and Architectural departments, and report to

the lead.

University of Pennsylvania, Krishna P. Singh Nanoscale Research Facility, Pennsylvania

Industrial Engineer – Responsible for generating utility matrix, designing the nano cleanroom facility layouts and

identifying equipment of the cleanroom for the University of Pennsylvania. The cleanroom is designed to accommodate

existing and future process tools, with the flexibility to change without disrupting ongoing research. Performed space fit

analysis and facility utility sizing for a full build-out cleanroom. The 90,000 SF research facilities have a construction cost of

$56 million. * Working with Mechanical, Electrical, Process, and Architectural departments, and report to the lead.

University of Utah, Neuroscience and Biomedical Technology Research Building, Utah

Industrial Engineer – Responsible for generating utility matrix, AutoCAD support, 3D modeling and CAD Revit drafting for

this 203,000 SF best-in-class research center that will integrate nanotechnology and materials science with biological and

medical research. * Working with Mechanical, Electrical, Process, and Architectural departments, and report to the lead.

BJG Architectural and Civil Company
