PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

02/2014 – 01/2015

Schlumberger, Rosharon, TX

Mechanical Engineer

Project Lead for mechanical seal testing in high temperature and pressure environments.

Design Engineer for an ODIN flow control valve using Creo Elements® / Pro 5.0 CAD software with

GD&T.

Successfully managed project and one employee to produce seal friction estimation software.

Modeled structural loads using ANSYS simulation software.

Work resulted in a patent application for my invention of a new mechanical seal.

01/2013 – 10/2013

Qualified Technical Services, Houston, TX

Flight Controller (ADCO) for the International Space Station

Received extensive training in NASA flight systems and Russian prop ulsion.

Command-certified and performed flight controller duties in complex simulations with NASA and

contractors.

Assisted in the creation of training materials and computer interfaces for ADCO personnel.

08/2010– 01/2013

Texas A&M University, Department of Mechanical Engineering

PhD student

Modeled electrodynamic fluid flow through a rocket engine using COMSOL Multiphysics FEA.

01/2007 – 08/2010

Lockheed Martin Space Systems, New Orleans, LA

Senior Design Engineer Security Clearance: Public Trust (2009)

Designed propulsion sub-assembly and other flight components for the Orion Service Module (SM)

using GD&T with Pro/Engineer® CAD software, Wildfire, and Windchill. Produced GD&T drawings

and modeled fluid, thermal, and chemical systems in the Service Module.

Acted as project interface for Propulsion, Radiators, Camera, Instrumentation, and Mechanisms with

NASA, Lockheed Martin, and numerous sub -contractors.

2/2

05/2006 – 08/2006

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD

NASA/AAAS Intern

Designed and built a precision cleaning apparatus for titanium tubing used on the Solar Dynamics

Observatory (SDO) spacecraft. Saved NASA thousands of dollars in cleaning expenses.

Successfully made parts and assembled them in a Level 10 clean room and worked with the NASA

Propulsion group in the preparation and installation of piping, ducts, and flow valve systems for SDO.

01/2003 – 05/2003

Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM

Research Engineer Intern

Designed, analyzed, and built piping and valves for hydraulic cooling system on the test apparatus.

Tested over 1,000 diode assemblies with capacitors, and repaired bad soldered joints.

Constructed support structures for various lab equipment.

02/1999 – 08/2002

Lockheed Martin Space Operations, NASA SSC, MS

Test Operations Engineer

Assisted in propulsion hot-fire testing of hybrid, hypergolic, and cryogenic rocket engines for NASA,

Boeing, TRW, and Lockheed Martin Michoud. Work included the design of piping, ducts, and flow

valve systems on the E-complex test stands. I worked on the TRW 650K Pintle engine, the Boeing

Consortium 250K Hybrid Rocket Demonstrator, FASTRAC, and the X-34 project.

Wrote NASA work documents and directed technicians in the performance of valve and instrument

installation, cryogenic liquid transfer, high pressure gas generation, pre -test preparation and post-test

securing and test article removal.

Supervisor during the third shift and managed over 10 engineers and technicians in support of cryogenic

transfer operations.
