Description: Common Portal Engine (CPE) is an application framework which provides a
uniform web portal application for all sites across ibm.com. By consolidating many different web
applications under a single umbrella hosted by the Common Portal Engine environment.
Furthermore, CPE strives to make the ibm.com standards a reality. Standards such as security
and privacy compliance, content metadata, taxonomy, look and feel, and search ability are just
some of the areas where CPE makes it easier for new adopters to launch their sites. Enables an
infrastructure to support the One IBM Web Experience Strategy. Maintains an application
framework and architecture that is flexible enough to reduce or eliminate the need to create
unique portal applications each from scratch with their own linkages to common tools, common
services, commerce and content. It reduces IT development and hosting costs across the board
for ibm.com and the value chains. CPE created a platform that leapfrogs IBM's capability to
serve multiple audiences in a personalized manner. Enabled rapid time to market for new
audience. Catalyzing the use of Common Profile, Content Management and Personalization
Initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Work on new development/enhancement/modification in the project.
• Identify the root cause of production problems and work effectively towards resolving the
problem at hand.
• Resolve the issues that surface during create/delete pages, Portal configuration, and
deployment in Production.
• Installation, Code review and doing bug fixes to make sure that the Portlet and java

to the application.
• To get in touch with the problem reporters for gathering information required for working
on the problem they have reported and thus provide them with accurate and quick
resolution in a timely manner.
• Any production problem is reported in the form of tickets in ManageNow Tool. The
problems originate from the current release and describe what abnormal situation the
customer is facing. As a CPE Portal team member, my work is to not only provide a
quick and precise resolution of the problem but also to work towards eliminating such
problems to ensure customer's business is not impacted.
• Follow up with the customer for the sign off on the deliverables
• Perform code reviews for the components prepared by the team.
• Provide support during the testing in solving any technical glitches.

Description: IBM India and IBM US have entered into a strategic agreement for the Development and
Support applications under the name ‘Enterprise Infrastructure Services – Life Cycle Management’ (in
short EIS-LCM), namely, IBM Intranet Password (IIP), IIPX, Unified Directory, and Blue Group.
IBM Intranet Password (IIP) is IBM’s strategic internal authentication solution which is also known as
Common Web Authentication and allows for a corporate level security implementation to access IBM
Intranet web applications. It is being used as an authentication mechanism for most of the IBM Intranet
applications. All new Intranet applications which require authentication will utilize the IBM Intranet
Password as the Unified authentication mechanism.
IBM Intranet Password eXternal Authentication (IIPX) is IBM’s strategic internal authentication
solution for external vendor applications contacted with IBM. IIPX is authentication utility which uses
IBM Intranet Id and Password, to gain access to external Web Applications supporting IBM employees.
BlueGroups (a.k.a Group Managers) is IBM’s strategic internal authorization solution. When the end
user of a secured application try to access the application, they will be authenticated first followed by
authorization. Groups are used to perform application entitlement or authorization. This tool allows the
user to create, delete and modify groups.
Unified Directory is IBM’s strategic internal authentication solution. The mission of UD is to extract the
Key authentication elements from both ED and WI in a real-time fashion and consolidate into a single,
Unified Directory. This will allow pointing to a single ldap directory to handle authentication requests
for both internal and external users.
IBM EIS-LCM India team provides support to its different sub-applications like ED Data feed, IBM
Intranet Password (IIP), Bluegroup, and Unified Directory.
