design phase and budget to completion. Oversaw daily tasks, and work of 10 network engineers and staff
on projects including design and installation of wireless networking, network backbone upgrade from
gigabit Ethernet to 10 gigabit Ethernet, and creating telecommunication infrastructure for newly renovated
or constructed campus buildings. Monitored project tasks daily using Microsoft Project, and adjusted
timelines.
Manager of Network Engineering (1996-2004 ): Led team of 10 network engineers and technicians in
all design projects, and day to day operations for extensive production and research data network with
more than 27,000 data ports and 35,000 workstations. Attended daily meetings to oversee research and
implementation of new technologies. Participated on management team that approved all network and IT
changes. Oversaw technologies including security, firewalls, wireless, and all emerging networking
technologies. Performed daily problem resolution and escalation. Familiar with security regulations such
as HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and Graham Leach Blilely.

• Improved system security by implementing firewall and security strategy to transform open network
into a secure and safe work environment.
• Implemented new network technologies by creating highly competent team that many industry
insiders considered the best data networking group in western Pennsylvania.
• Met all user requirements by building highly complex network using leading edge technologies, and
overseeing data networking for building renovations and construction.
• Contained expenses by completing many new projects and technology implementations without
exceeding projected budgets.
• Enabled faculty and staff to understand network infrastructure by giving presentations about new
technologies.
• Raised productivity by coordinating connectivity and Internet2 projects with Pittsburgh
Supercomputing Center, and security and connectivity with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
