RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Employer: Bhabha Atomic Research Centre From: September 2009 - Present

Designation: Senior Research Fellow in Physics

Research Area: Study of dynamics of molecules using Quasi elastic neutron

scattering (QENS) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation techniques.

Problems tackled using QENS and MD simulation techniques:

1] Performed QENS experiments on the saponite clay containing water

molecules and analyzed the data to obtain dynamical behaviour of water in

clay.

2] Using QENS technique successfully obtained the dynamical variance of

water confined in two different saponite clays (SAP-1 and SAP-2) differing

in their structure and charge on the layers.

3] Effect of surface passivation (Calcining at high temperatures) in spinel

slurry towards hydrolysis is studied using QENS and rheological

measurements.

4] Diffusion of water in Bentonite clay is studied using QENS technique.

Hydration of Bentonite clay is characterized by several methods including X-

ray diffraction and thermogravimetric measurements.

5] Gelation effect on the dynamics of water in alumina slurry at different

temperatures 50 0C, 55 0C and 60 0C is studied using QENS technique and

rheological measurements.

6] MD simulation is used to find out the dynamical properties of acetylene

confined in the CuBTC MOF.

7] Transport properties of binary mixture of ethane and acetylene in CuBTC

MOF are studied using MD simulation technique.

Programming Knowledge:

Knowledge of C++ and FORTRAN languages.

Detailed knowledge on Structured Quarry Language (SQL) and PL SQL.

Small reliable programmes have been written using Visual Basics 6.0.

Through knowledge of graph plotting software Origin 6 and Origin 7.5.

** Presented my work in various conferences and schools in India and

abroad.
