CAREER OVERVIEW

A successful and driven Human Resource Coordinator with nine (9) years of industry experience. As a

WORK EXPERIENCE

SunCoke Energy, Inc., Oakwood, VA

Human Resources Coordinator (March 2013 – Present)

Major work assignments include:

• Worked directly with Manager of Human Resources, to fulfill Human Resources functions for

SunCoke Energy’s Jewell Coke Operations Facility as well as SunCoke Energy’s Jewell Coal

Mining, publicly-traded manufacturer of coal and coke product – approximately 500 employees

• Performed interviews for open positions, conducted new employee orientations, administered

employee benefit programs, and worked as a liaison between employee and benefit providers

• Developed unique staffing charts using Microsoft Excel for the company’s four coal mines,

providing management with an accurate, real time view of manpower at each mine site,

allowing managers to adequately staff without exceeding budget

• Designed quarterly newsletter in house, saving the company $20,000 annually

• Acted as Wellness Champion, initiating and organizing wellness activities and challenges for

employees, including a weight loss challenge in which 225 employees participated and achieved

a weight loss goal of 1500 lbs. companywide

• Managed company DOT program, including coordination of random drug screens and DOT

physicals, compliance with agency regulations and maintaining files for 25 participants

• Played a key role in planning company events, such as company picnics, communication

meetings, and community involvement activities, including a holiday project in which $3000 was

donated by employees to provide gifts to 85 local children

• Developed PowerPoint presentations and conducted employee training sessions in relation to

policy, benefits and leadership development

• Prepared monthly reports such as headcount and turnover for data analysis

• Assisted with worker’s compensation claims, including correspondence with doctors, insurance

carrier, attorneys and injured employees in an effort to obtain the highest quality care for the

employee

Human Resources Clerk (January 2008 – March 2013)

Major assignments for this position were similar to the Coordinator’s position above but with an

expanded role in support of the company Manager of Human Resources.

Major work assignments included:

• Developed company communications, including offer letters, benefit information, and agency

requested documentation letters

• Maintained company’s vendor and contractor insurance program

• Organized and maintained personnel files, medical files, and I-9 documents for Jewell Resources

• Completed audit requests for both employee personnel data and employee certifications and

licenses

• Prepared paperwork for new hire orientation packets, including benefits enrollment forms,
