and support of biomedical, industrial equipment and scientific instruments. Proven experience in
completing project deliverables on time while meeting stringent quality standards and demonstrated strong
communication and team leadership skills.
Current Position
(Aug 2013 – Present)
Warranty Specialist Engineer, Jacobsen TEXTRON
Conduct root cause failure analysis of mechanical, electrical a nd hydraulic parts and systems that
are used in industrial grade turf care equipment.
Design test setups and establish procedures to conduct FMEA studies and analyze data to identify
failure trends.
Document results and convey report to design engineering a nd production for changes in product
design or assembly procedures. Communicate results to the supplier design team if necessary.
Discuss failure containment action and work on recovering warranty expenses.
Key person for design and development of Customer Care dashboard in Qlikview, a BI platform.
This resulted in improved recovery initiatives by 40% and reduced overall warranty by 3.5% for
2014.
This is a highly hands-on position that requires critical troubleshooting and decision making skills.
Professional Experience
(Mar 2012 – Apr 2013)
Mechanical Engineer, Bruker Corporation
Designed a motion/position control system used in industrial metrology applications. This involved
design and development of mechanical components and systems, crea ting assembly and part
drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis, vendor interaction, BOM and ECO creation and
documentation for assembly, use and maintenance procedures.
Worked in an ISO regulated clean room environment.
Worked with multi-disciplinary and inter-departmental teams to develop prototypes of
electromechanical, pneumatic and optical hardware and supported the release into production.
Supported applications engineering in the definition, implementation, and validation of product
features and performance. Lead activities for NPI and sustenance design.
(Aug 2011 – Feb 2012)
Biomedical Engineering Technician, Rex Healthcare, Raleigh, NC
Worked with the Biomedical Engineering team to provide maintenance and installation of medical
equipment and healthcare related devices.
Conducted preventive maintenance routines (IQ, OQ, PQ) and scheduled safety and quality checks.
Carried out repair and maintenance activities using product handbooks and manuals.
(July 2010 – Sep 2010)
Graduate Intern, Industrial Extension Service, NC State University
Studied the manufacturing process for OEM lighting company, Optimum Lighting, LLC,
Henderson, NC and made improvements based on the principles of lean manufacturing and JIT.
Developed a planned approach for relocation and expansion of manufacturing facilit y and designed
layout in AutoCAD for the same.
(July 2007 – June 2009)
Project Engineer, Precision Automation and Robotics India Ltd.
Developed a prototype model of a surgical robotic arm. Used ProE extensively for 3D modeling.
Conducted design and process FMEA of components.
Lead engineer on End-play gauging station, Crankshaft Automation project for Kirloskar Oil
Engines Ltd. India.
Underwent a rotation cycle and learnt work-force management, material ordering through ERP
system, creating BOM and third-party vendor interaction techniques.
Education
Master of Science, Mechanical Engineering, North Carolina State University (Dec 2011)
Minor in Industrial Engineering
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, University of Pune, India (June 2009)
Relevant Academic Projects
Design and Manufacturing of Medical Devices: Designed a revolutionary “preservative-free,
measured eye-drops dispensing system” in SolidWorks 2010 adhering to FDA standards and
developed a rapid prototype by 3D printing. Then designed and manufactured a mold for
manufacturing the product by injection molding using ProE & SurfCam V5 package for CNC
machining and developed a working prototype.
Cardiovascular Biomechanics: Simulated the vessel wall displacement by accounting for radial
effects in addition to the longitudinal displacement due to blood pressure under pulsatile flow in the
carotid artery using Simulink.
Design of Electromechanical Systems: Developed a model of a low power energy harvester based
on a tethered buoy concept in ProE to generate electricity from waves. Used FEMM, ANSYS
package for analysis.
