PROFILE

I am a highly motivated Professional Manufacturing / Lean Continuous

Improvement Senior Engineer experienced in all aspects of electronic and

mechanical System Integration assembly within the Electronic Manufacturing

Industry. I have experience working with both OEM's and CEM's

Throughout my career I have always set myself challenges and have

continually succeeded in meeting them. I am a genuine people person who is

confident as a team player or as an individual project worker. My greatest

strengths are my organisational, planning and communication skills. I have

a great amount of experience dealing with both internal and external

customers and consider myself both professional & personable. I feel my

System Integration Engineering Leader & Continuous Improvement Coach

. I have four System Integration (box build) Engineer reports and also head

up and drive all lean & continuous improvement initiatives throughout the

company, reporting to the corporative head of Quality & Continuous

Improvement submitting Pursuit of Excellence measurements & Lean

Scorecards

. During early 2012, as part of a team of 3 (with the GM & Ops leader) I

coordinated the move of half of the workforce (140 employees) from the

Santa Clara plant to the new Milpitas plant which included procurement of

equipment, building & contractor work. I also designed and laid out the

full production floor space incorporating point of use material storage

(no stock room) in 50,000 Sq. Ft of shop floor space from SMT through to

shipping

. I lead many Lean projects including facilitating Kaizen event projects to

increase efficiency & reduce waste. The latest being an SMT kit

separation, SMT set-up & SMT change-over kaizen event that has a

projected cost saving/cost avoidance of over $500k+ in labor and SMT

downtime

. During 2010 I Introduced mandatory monthly A3 Cost saving/cost avoidance

exercises for all System Integration Engineers which enabled our small

department to save $120k+ year on year

Senior Process Engineer (Mechanical & System Integration) Lean bias

I relocated to the bay area in 2008 from the UK and was employed by a fast

growing CEM (World top 25)

. I was Responsible for a 6,000 Sq Ft shop floor area with 8 System

Integration customers in varying industry sectors including medical

devices

. Coached two Process Engineers and an Engineering Associate

. Laid out a complete new shop floor footprint since arriving at the

company and increased build efficiencies by circa 40% within key customer

cells

. Introduced cellular and lean principles into the company through

manufacturing cell design and implementation

. Traveled to new OEM customers premises to help in the seamless transition

of new product to the CM for build readiness

. Conducted team Kaizen events and presented follow up presentation of

improvements with bottom line cost savings/cost avoidance to the

leadership team

. Worked with several startup companies on DFM issues to cut costs prior to

volume build

. Had good solid relationships with customers and visited all local

customers frequently

I was employed with a well established (World top 50) CEM in the role of

Manufacturing Engineer.

. Drafting of detailed Manufacturing Process Instructions (SMT through

System Integration)

. I oversaw NPI introduction from prototype through to full volume

production

. Jig/Fixture procurement for process method improvements

. Continually worked to achieve decreased standard times and better yields

across all products

. Responsibility for six customer's products in sectors such as Defense,

Automotive, Medical & Telecommunications, totaling circa 300 individual

products

. Liaising with customers regarding build changes and up-issues etc and was

responsible for dealing with ECO's and implementing these changes

smoothly and efficiently into full production

. Responsibility for designing PCB panel drawings prior to first build

using Autocad LT2008 through Gerber drawings

. Completed Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Training

2002-2005

Senior Production Engineer

Due to company downsizing I became the sole Production Engineer supporting

50 shop floor operators.

. Design, draw-up and install a complete new shop floor area

. Managed and co-ordinated the above sub contract work including flooring,

ducting and building work etc

. Design and installation of cellular manufacturing within the plant and

developing efficient working methods within each cell through lean and 5s

methodology

. Rresponsible for NPI production and troubleshooting any production issues

through to volume builds

. I successfully increased the PCB in circuit first time pass rate by

heading an investigative team

. I was heavily involved with the investigation and introduction of the

RoHS/WEEE Directives, and moving towards lead free soldering inline with

these Directives.
