As a professional, both in the human services and retail industry, I have gained the skills needed
to utilize my people skills as well as the knowledge from my education to work successfully with people
from all diverse backgrounds. I have gained recognition in the past for having strong communication as
well as empathy skills to treat those of different backgrounds with respect and dignity regardless of
circumstances surrounding their needs. Through my professional experience I have gained the hands on
tools needed to develop good rapport with offenders needed to assist in making referrals to the
appropriate community agencies for their needs as well as assessing the risk to society while holding
them accountable for their own actions. I monitor compliance, maintain records for the court and report
violations back to the court upon exhausting all efforts alone to reintegrate the offender back into the
community as a law abiding citizen. I have gained knowledge of court proceedings upon the arrest and
conviction, as well as types of probation and types of crimes on all levels, and witnessed pleas as well as
testified when directed in revocation hearings as directed and amending documents for the court such as
court order modifications. Through my work experience as well as professional some of my qualifications
include: being a good listener, strong communicative skills, being able to complete task in a timely
manner as given, my pleasant and friendly demeanor help make it possible for me to develop good
relationships in and out of work, therefore making me a team player, as well as maintaining records, and
assisting in decision making rather it be for the good of sales, or even if to assist in a life altering
catastrophe. Working with the largest retailer nationwide for nearly 16 years now has made me adaptable
to changes and stressors that may present on short notice while maintaining a professional and calm
demeanor in the work environment. I love to help people.
I am seeking a career in the human services relations, and or retail and business to help me utilize
my skills gained and continue to work in the related industry I love. I have considered the option of
returning to school as well and have desired for master’s or even law degree. In the event this is to
become effective, it would be in part time base. I would like to broaden my horizons in such that I may
have the opportunity to work with the youth – rather it be in the legal system or not, as well as the
opportunity to work in legal environment to gain more knowledge of this field, and will consider the
possibility of retail and business relations as well, as for most of my work experience has been in this
industry. I realize I am up against a heavy challenge making a career change during this tough economic
time, but I believe that new growth and opportunity if desired can be found at any time and any place. I
recently bought my first home in Tarrant County and while I prefer to maintain close to home for this
reason, the idea of commute is also something that can be done if obtained new position in a different
county. I appreciate your time in reviewing this letter and resume’ and look forward to hearing from you
soon!
Sincerely,
Christie Hamm
