Duties and Responsibilities
Passenger Service Agent
• Perform a highly visible role at an airport who exhibits excellent communication skills and
patience under pressure. Naturally, travelling can be frustrating for many people for any number
of reasons so it’s important to respond to inquiries in a calm and efficient manner.
• Perform tasks such as assisting customers at the check-in counter, gate and monitoring
baggage areas. Aircraft boarding and disembarking will also fall within the remit.
• Approach passengers in a positive and friendly manner-even if problems arise, such as flight
delays or lost baggage. The ability to stay calm under pressure is very vital to succeed in a
passenger service agent job. Occasionally, asked to assist unaccompanied minors and young
passengers travelling alone, elderly and disabled passengers onto a flight. Therefore organization
and understanding of certain situations needs to be second to none.
• Finally, need skills, initiative and experience that include an advance level of aviation training, a
strong working knowledge of airport schedules and infrastructure, excellent attention to detail and
willingness to work flexible hours, fluency with at least one second language and basic computer
literacy.

• Fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, preparing reports,
supervising other support staff and customer relations.
• Responsible for communicating with clients, outside vendors and staff members on behalf of
the employer.
