universities. I am trained to use computer technology to improve my professionalism and
classroom instruction.
Professional Qualification:
I am certified to teach mathematics, chemistry and physics for life- time in the states of Missouri,
Mississippi, Oklahoma and Math, chemistry in Kansas. I am a master teacher and take pride in
serving the Kansas City Public Schools District Kansas City for 27 years. I have taught in
multicultural communities in America and abroad. I feel comfortable working with students
and staff of all ethnic groups. My success lies in showing improvement in achievement of my
students. I am trained in crisis management, classroom management, solving discipline and
attitude related problems and mediation. I am trained to mentor new teachers and make
presentation during in-service and staff development sessions for math and science teachers. I
am expert in motivating staff and students in science through demonstrations and hands-on

expectations of meaningful and effective staff development sessions. It is very important win
and buy in those teachers and educators who meet the inner city school children and their
parents face to face daily address their concerns during professional developments and
presentations. I am trained in math/science curriculum structuring and as such my school
district has commended my contribution towards restructuring district science curriculum. I
have been a member of the MAP-Leaders team in the state of Missouri. I have undergone
training to improve students’ achievement in math by ‘America’s Choice’ consultant trainers. I
make presentations using ‘Opening Hour Activity, Work-time Activity and Closing-Time Activity
model’ to maximize learning outcome. This year I took training in Common Core Curriculum
implementation using Pearson Digital instruction Resource. At present I am a full time tenured

My Philosophy of Education:
Access to education is a fundamental right of everyone. I believe that everyone can learn and can
be taught. I am an advocate of providing fearless, encouraging, fair and safe instructional
environment for all children. Any obstruction or hardship that stands in the way of a teacher or
a student must be immediately removed. I believe in setting achievable standards and
expectations then achieving them without exception.
Application Supplement
Describe the classroom environment that contributes to high levels of student motivation for
achievement.
The administration should provide a safe and comfortable classroom environment where as it is
the duty and responsibility of a teacher to create an inviting environment which should attract
students to come and stay in the classroom for learning. To achieve such an environment I as a
teacher would make my personal interaction with the students and their parents congenial and
approachable by all means and professional attire and instructional strategies. An inviting
classroom displays students pride by posting their achievements, performance, artifacts, word-
wall of concepts & terms related to content area. An inviting classroom environment encourages
students to take ownership of their classroom and everybody in the class takes pride in fair and
consistent rules to promote respect, dignity and right to learn and get the best quality of
instruction to achieve high standards in education. Besides all of above characteristics,
accountable (talk and interaction! during class-time is the foremost characteristic of high levels of
students motivation for achievement
What instructional technology tools do you feel comfortable using? How would you incorporate
those tools in your instruction?
I am trained in using most of the instructional technology tools. I feel comfortable with the
educational software that facilitate learning and promote high achievement. Desktop computer
net-working (now it is replaced by laptops) is used in my school. I feel comfortable with LC
projector. I would use them to incorporate differentiated instructions in my classroom. I feel
comfortable with graphic calculators. I use them and teach my students to use them in algebra,
geometry, pre-calculus and calculus classes. I use technology to keep students records and
communicate with parents and administration. I use technology to study and compare data of
students' performance and achievement to improve outcome of my instruction and students’
achievement. Smart -board is a recent Introduction in our teaching tools.
Tell about the strengths you bring in working with other professionals as a team member.
I believe in collaborative efforts to achieve a common goal of educating our children. I will bring
proactive attitude, team spirit, which are the backbone of professional community. I attend
summer institutes, workshops and conferences and share the resource and experience with my
fellow professionals. I visit my fellow educators’ classes and incorporate new ideas in my teaching
strategies. I invite my colleagues to visit my classes and appreciate their comments and
mentorship to improve my instruction. In my school the concepts of 'professional learning
communities' and 'small learning communities' have been of great success.
List and describe the components of a good lesson.
A good lesson should always be built on 'previous learning' of the population students in the class.
A good lesson should have three major components in its structure. Via: Opening time activity,
work time activity and closing time activity. Opening time activity should include a short 'do now',
home work related agenda, few diacaustic question and a short introduction of the lesson stating
'what and why' the students are going to learn.
The Work time activity should include a well-planned guided instruction and practice. It should
be followed by students struggle time in groups or on individual basis and the teacher should
monitor their progress with little direct help but more coaching to promote self confidence in
problem solving. In short intervals the teacher should check for learning and understanding and
schedule tutoring or extra help time. The closing time activity should include students’
presentation, question/answer or short assessment quiz. A good lesson must have homework of
optimum time for reinforcement. Feed- back must follow through electronic or physical means.
Describe the role of a teacher in building positive relationships with both students and families
and why this is critical for student success?
Positive and respectable relationship of teacher with both students and parents plays very
important role in student's success and achievement. A teacher should use professionalism to win
the confidence of his student and parents. The student should feel comfortable to approach the
teacher to get coaching, assistance and guidance to overcome difficulties that stand in the way of
his/her learning and achieving his/her educational needs and goals. The families should have
access to meet or communicate with the teacher easily and openly with dignity and respect. The
teacher should be ready to answer questions asked by parents related to student’s performance
and achievements and ways or means to improve.
A teacher should communicate with parents consistently about his student's performance,
achievements and behavioral issues plus the areas that need improvement. A teacher should
attend his student’s sports events, extracurricular activities and social activities to create sense of
community. All of these factors contribute towards student's success.
What provides you with the greatest pleasure in teaching?
Comfort of my students to lean a concept, steady progress in learning, improvement in civil and
social behavior and ultimate success in achieving of set goals provide me with greatest pleasure in
teaching.
Describe what you find most inspiring and enjoyable with regard to teaching students.
Lord has given me a gift of the knowledge and skill to teach. I am fortunate to touch the lives of
children who are expected to make this world a better place to live. I feel pride in contributing my
share to educate these children to be successful, productive and dignified citizen of this great
country and wonderful world. This contribution makes it most inspiring and enjoyable to
teaching students.
What do you say to parents when their child is not succeeding in your class?
Everyone can learn and succeed at his/her own pace. There are hardships in every endeavor.
Falling makes you stronger and builds your will power. Mahatma Ghandhiji did not give even he
had to face several unsuccessful outcomes. He achieved his goal and succeeded in getting freedom
for his countrymen. The only thing you need is sincere and honest efforts. Life does not end at one
spot. It continues and as time passes, failure turns into success. So 'Excelsior!'
