2 B TECH COURSE PROJECT – ‘ANALYSIS ON TURBO AIR CONDITIONER: AN

INNOVATIVE CONCEPT’

The conventional automobile air conditioning system draws power from the engine. The air

conditioning system consumes quite a reasonable amount of fuel energy. The project

proposes the introduction of a turbocharger in order to transform the kinetic energy of the

exhaust gas into useful power to run the compressor of the A/C system. Analysis was

done for the Gas Turbine. This system avoids the extraction of power from the engine,

exempting the use of belts and pulleys. The use of magnetic gears helps to transfer the

torque at the required rpm. This brings out better use of exhaust gas.

3 B TECH COURSE SEMINAR – ‘A PROTOTYPE MAGNETIC GEAR’

The paper describes the design and evaluation of a magnetic gear, which employs rare-earth

magnets, which simulation studies have shown to have a transmitted torque density exceeding

100 kNm/m3.
