ACHIEVEMENTS
First year attending Lone Star Community College was a tremendous, mind blowing
experience. Attending I was able to meet Mr. Richard Lewis as well as Mr. Elvis. These
two guys introduced me to their mentoring program (MMI) Minority Male Initiative.
During the first semester Mr. Lewis and Mr. Parada began recruiting for their program. Out
of 23 males recruited I was given the honor to be chosen as next mentor along with 3 other
guys. In this program I was able to help other students with personal and several other
problems. MMI, was designed to educated students on the importance of finishing their
education, map out a degree plan, educate on financial assistance, build successful
resume’s, apply for grants, dress properly for interviews etc. With all of this taken place I
quickly developed better confidence, leadership skills, team skills and much more. I was
very pleased to be part of this program and inspired mainly because I was able to help and
educate others as well as myself.
