Internship: EFRI REM at Syracuse University (Dr. Roy Welch) (2012-
2013)
. Research in Microbiology: This is an effort to understand the
genetic influence to biofilm formation.
. Create mutant strains of Myxococcus xanthus via gene insertion.
. Characterize mutants using a variety of characterization assays:
motility and sporulation.
Research: Dept. of Biology (Fall 2013)
. Worked on building a multifaceted instrument via 3D printing.
. This is to streamline characterization process of Myxococcus
xanthus.
. This includes a microscope with integrated RaspberryPi device,
bioreactor, and a peristaltic pump.
. Perform variety of mechanical testing including test to failure and
high cycle fatigue testing.
Capstone Design (2012-2013)
. Create a device to synthesize dry ice in absence of reliable
infrastructure to aid healthcare in developing nations.
. Served as the client liaison and led team meetings.
. Received $5500 in awards from the Raymond von Dran IDEA
competition.
Undergraduate Research: Syracuse Biomaterials Institute (Dr. Julie
Hasenwinkel) (2010-2012)
. Research in Biomedical Engineering: specific focus on spinal cord
injury.
. Examine the influence of topographical cues by Astrocytes on the
development and regeneration of neurons.
. Literature and protocol review; participate in laboratory group
meetings.
Campus Catering (2010-2012)
. Waiter for campus wide events (the Faculty Center and Carrier
Dome). Customer-centered experience.
LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE
