Plant/ Operations Manager
Asked to expand my role and to include the operations management of both facilities due to the
recognized outstanding results of my proven leadership skills. I continue to provide leadership, problem
solving, team building and strategic planning for the operations of the Grant, AL as well as the recent
addition of the Houston, TX facilities.
ATI Tungsten Materials Business Grant, AL June 2004 – Nov. 2013
ATI Tungsten Materials Business, with $340M in annual sales, was a leading producer of tungsten
metallurgical powders, as well as tooling technologies and components. The business had approximately
1,175 employees across fourteen operating facilities. Kennametal acquired ATI Tungsten Materials
Business in Nov. 2013.
Plant/ Operations Manager
Provide leadership, problem solving, team building and strategic planning for the operations of the Grant,
AL manufacturing facility. Led the turnaround of this underperforming facility and its 125 employees to
become one of the safest and most productive sites of the group. The facility grew from a $24 million
break even annual performance to a consistently high performing $50 million 20% profitable annual
performance.
• Provide leadership, problem solving, team building and strategic planning for the
operations.
• Accountable for the continuing development and motivation of highly functioning
management and production teams at both facilities. Leading the execution of the manufacturing
operations strategies that achieve world class safety and production results necessary to optimizes
facility utilization, driving continuous improvement in all processes, and generating industry high
customer satisfaction with exceptional product quality.
• Areas of responsibilities include all Safety, Manufacturing, and P&L results of the
facilities. These responsibilities include the Safety & Environmental activities; Production and
Inventory activities; Facilities Management; Capital Planning, Strategic Planning; Quality;
Engineering; and Shipping operations.
• Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data
indicators to measure productivity and establish performance goals and measures for the teams.
Monitor and manage goal achievements to determine areas needing improvements with cost
reductions and / or productivity improvements.
• Assist the direct sales management and staff with the costing and distribution of the
manufactured products and with customer care activities.
• Work with local and corporate HR and direct manufacturing management to determine
staffing requirements and to establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and
procedures.
• Work with corporate and local Accounting to establish and coordinate organization's
financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
• Promote a world class safe work environment through the management and coordination
of the safety and environmental activities for the facilities.
• Identify; recommend and authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment
or property to increase efficiency and services of operations.
• Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and
procedures, safety rules, and production standards.

establishment of forecasts and execution plans that allow for the continued success and growth of

Plant/ Operations Manager
• Managed and coordinated all aspects of the Gurley operations of the Graded
Powder Business Unit. Duties included all Safety, Production and Inventory activities,
and P&L responsibilities of the Gurley facility. Direct responsibilities included the
Facilities Management; Capital Planning requirements; Management of 50-75 employees;
Quality; Engineering; and Shipping operations.
• Developed all processing schedules to insure that all decisions concerning
inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments
were in line with established budgetary limitations and time constraints.
• Monitored all operational tasks and conferred with technical and engineering staff
to resolve production or processing problems.
• Developed or implemented production tracking or quality control systems
analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports to detect
production problems.
• Worked with HR to hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel
grievances.
• Developed budgets or approved expenditures for supplies, materials, or human
resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment were used efficiently to meet
production targets.

TQM / CIP Manager
• Developed, implemented and coordinated the overall Total Quality Management / Continuous
Improvement Process efforts of two business units.
• Worked with the management and employees of both business units to identify and
choose the projects for implementation teams to attack.
• Coordinated and managed the efforts of all teams and reported progress to
Steering Committee through presentations and weekly reports.
• Managed teams and implementation of discovered areas of improvements to
deliver approximately $1.3 Million in savings.
INTERGRAPH CORPORATION HUNTSVILLE
Intergraph was ranked No. 1 supplier of computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering
(CAD/CAM/CAE) systems in North America and No. 2 in the world. Intergraph also reached its goal of
$1 billion in revenue and joined the Fortune 500 during this timeframe.
Staff Supervisor; Senior Staff Supervisor; Senior System Engineer (Project Manager) March 1989 –
March 1999
• Worked with Intergraph for 10 years. Started with Intergraph as a Staff Supervisor
and developed and promoted to several management positions with increasing
management responsibilities through these years. Moved into a final role of liaison
between the manufacturing and engineering areas as a project manager for the
workstation computer products division. This included all activities from inception,
planning, beta builds and introduction of new lines to manufacturing floor.
