QA Manager Amazon FreeTime™
Amazon FreeTime™ is the best-in-class parental control suite. It is included on Fire tablets, Kindle eReaders
and on Fire TV. FreeTime™ consists of both client-side and server-side software.
• Inherited an established team of QAE II’s, QAE I’s and an SDET who had been without a
manager for several months.
• Guided the team through a series of releases designed to support both legacy devices and new
hardware.
• Team is responsible for as needed deployments for the server-side software, the FreeTime™ retail
website and any .apk’s that are needed for over-the-air updates.
• Helped to implement the first series of integration tests for the server-side software. The server-
side software survived the Christmas 2014 load without damaging the customer experience.
• Initiated projects to refactor test cases, automate the client software and improve the server-side
deployment process.
• Coordinated with other Kindle teams to facilitate software delivery.

the shift.

• Managed the transition of an outdated QA Lab that was primarily made up of a random
collection of old hardware into an environment that is maintainable, efficient, and highly useful
and scalable for the QA team.
