Work History

Mercy Council Bluffs Hospital/Alegent Creighton Health, Omaha, NE (July-Aug 14) Post- Go Live Optimization. Requested by CIO to return for optimization within the procedure center area for nurses and physicians. Main focus was to trouble shoot ongoing and new issues with the system that is not cohesive to the procedure center workflow and create Remedy tickets to assist with getting the issue resolved. I created a continuity binder for the procedure center in which we would be able to log and track our ongoing issues and identify issues that have been resolved. I worked along side the director and Team Lead to create and lead training sessions for the nursing and physician staff in regards to procedure documentation and personalization of the system. Also, I made office visits to physicians that had scheduled cases at the procedure center to give them more insight of the system and personalize their set-ups in Epic so that their work would flow more efficiently. I rounded on the hospital floors daily to assist with any pertinent issues that physicians and the nursing staff had as it would relate to Epic. Worked alongside Epic Analysts in getting outstanding remedy tickets resolved.

Harrison Hospital/ CHI Franciscan Network, Bremerton, WA (July14), Go-Live Support, I assisted with and provided at-the-elbow support to physicians in the Cath-Lab and Heart Care Center utilizing the modules OpTime and Radiant. Assisted surgeons with creating their Heart Cath reports in Radiant, placing pre-op, post-op, and floor orders for patients. Helped physician create note templates in the system to complete their notes within Epic and also set-up dragon profiles so that they would be able to utilize the dragon dictation system within Epic to dictate their notes. Assisted the nurses with documenting pre and post operatively on a patient within OpTime.

Alegent Creighton Health, Mercy Council Bluffs Hospital, Omaha, NE (May14-Jun14), Go-Live Support, Provide at-the-elbow support to surgeons, anesthesia staff, and nurses in Pre-Op and Pacu areas. Surgeons were assisted with placing pre-op orders utilizing order sets and additional orders. They were taught how to customize their order sets according to their liking, as well as, making single orders apart of their preference list. I worked along side physician groups and showed them how they were able to share these items with other surgeons in their group that commonly order the same items. Physicians were taught how to create smart phrases and share them with their colleagues as well. We worked heavily on the Medication Reconciliation portion which caused several hang ups if not carried out properly. I also worked extensively with nursing in correct documentation during pre-op and pacu phases and also infusion visits. Assisted the lead with creating and resolving remedy tickets in regards to the Epic system.

Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Palo Alto, CA (May14), Go-Live Support, Provide at-the-elbow support to physicians as well as nurses with Epic 2014 version located at LPCH and Sequoia Hospital which housed a special care nursery that was apart of LPCH. I assisted the nurses with daily documentation within the module Clin Doc. I assisted the physicians with placing orders, daily documentation i.e creating smart phrases, smart lists, preference lists. Streamlined the physician documentation process to make it more feasible for them to carry out their necessary documentation within a timely manner. Assisted inpatient secretaries with getting patients transferred onto the floor. Obtaining necessary information to place into thin charts as well as dropping charges for patients. On the outpatient side I assisted with scheduling appointments and getting patient insurance placed into the system. I would assist nurses during documentation of the intra-op procedure when needed. I would also assist the surgeons with creating their brief-op and operative notes after completing a procedure on a patient.
