Thesis:

Clinical Spectrum of Neonatal Seizures and Correlation with EEG: Conducted a study of 100 cases to

ascertain most common causes, and types of neonatal seizures along with their correlation with Electro

encephalogram(EEG).The study found that most common etiology was Hypoxic Ischemic

encephalopathy (HIE), and the most common type of seizures was subtle seizure. Hypoglycemic seizure

was more common in IUGR babies and associated with worse prognosis. EEG was abnormal in 38% of

cases, whereas normal in 62% of cases with good prognosis, The study also found that severe interictal

EEG background abnormalities, such as burst suppression, marked voltage suppression, an adverse

outcome may occur in 90% of cases.
