RE:
To Whom It May Concern:
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself, Jeannine Bernstein. The
leadership skills, agility to change, and positive team building tools I have acquired and
use in my current role can be credited to a pedigree of fine organizations that I have
worked with over my career. There are some clear examples of my leadership and team
building skills that I wish to illustrate:
With in the last quarter of 2014 I have worked very closely with a dyad approach
that Mount Sinai prides itself upon. The objective is to incorporate new medicine and
nursing strategies to patient throughput. The simple concept of representing medicine and
nursing in patient care decisions and length of stay quandaries. My core belief system of
patient services surrounds a portion of the Studer philosophies. With this in mind, last
quarter I developed an online video based competency using MSH’s, Peak Educational
Platform. This competency was developed along with two Corporate Nursing Officers for
director and management level training.
The CNO of Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ through my affiliation at
Rutger’s University requested my development of a return-on-investment analysis
supporting a acquisition of a patient call back system. The objective, to lower CMS
readmission penalties in all areas of service. This project concluded in December with
gaining approval from their Board of Directors.
I have chaired a team and implemented a 30-day post new hire simulation lab
event at Mount Sinai entitled “Content to Concept,” putting it all together where the
recapture of core indicators of quality nursing is reinforced to create that “magic bullet
of hardwiring effect.” Topics included real time daily data of hospital falls safety,
acquired infection rate, and the prevention bundles. This collaboration includes: Infection
Control Officer, ANP WOCN, QI, and the Simulation lab director.
System-wide successes at Moffit Cancer Center give evidence as to my long-term
ability to lead a vision to a successful initiation as acknowledged by Jack Kolosky, VP of
the organization. The collaborative nature of this initiative involved working with the
legal, executive branch, risk management, licensed practitioners, and procedural nursing
to find a common win-win for all invested.
As my current position reflects, I have found education as not only my lifelong
journey but also the core of improving our healthcare system today on many fronts. The
DNP program online with Rutgers State University exhibits clearly my commitment to
further my personal education and acquire certifications to substantiate my expertise.
With confidence, my presence will prove to encompass the enthusiasm that your
organization is seeking to polish your team. Relationships are what bring about successful
initiatives, progress, and cooperative relationships. I look forward to meeting your
executive officers and Vice President of Patient Care Services to share our vision’s of
exceptional patient care in south Florida.
Warm regards,
Jeannine M. Bernstein, DNPc, RN, CCRN-K
