Design and Fabrication of Muscle Powered Electric Car [MPEC]

Introduction: An in-campus project named MPEC (Muscle powered electric car) has been implemented as part of under-

grad 8th semester curriculum implemented from initial phases of design, planning to building a prototype.

MPEC is an attempt to achieve a common solution for a green environment and the human body f itness. It is a type of

rowing machine on wheels, which uses the combination of handle bar and sliding seat to operate a kinematic mechanism

charging the battery with the help of an alternator, the battery in -turn powers the 0.75hp motor.

With further improvement in the design, battery technology, manufacturing methods, and mass production the cost of the

vehicle can be greatly reduced, which will help in making the product available for the masses, not only helps to decrease the

pollution in the planet and also to keep the human body fit and healthy.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS:

Designed and manufactured structural parts and some functional parts of an IC engine powered remote controlled car.

Participated in International level Tech fests held at IIT BOMBAY, NI T TRICHY and NIT SURATKAL.
