As the HR Manager I report to the GM while working directly with the Finance and Operations Managers to guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire company. As the HR Manager I initiate and implement practices that provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture, emphasizing the recruitment and on-going development of a superior workforce. In this position I supervise a Recruiting Specialist and an HR Assistant. While supervisory responsibilities are part of the job, this is a "hands on" role that also involves a lot of tactical HR duties.
My current responsibilities include:
• Managing the driver recruitment program. Ensuring that a pipeline of candidates are screened and selected for the driver training program in a timely and organized manner.
• Employee compensation and benefit administration, including plan design and selection of health, dental and disability plans.
• Strategic organizational development and leadership training.
• Legal and regulatory compliance oversight. Ensures company compliance with local, state and federal employment laws.
• Policy development and documentation.
• Maintenance of Oracle and Beacon HRIS systems.
• Partner with other members of management on employee relations issues and disciplinary actions, including union relations.
• Work closely with Union Shop Stewards relative to employee complaints
• Documents workflow and work procedures
• Works with outside unemployment vendor and attends unemployment hearings.
• Works with Safety Department to ensure timely documentation and filing of Worker's Compensation claims.
• Prepares reports for and participates in weekly management meetings.
• Prepares monthly employee and drug screening report for submission to the MBTA.
• Coordinates payroll and benefit changes with the Finance Department.
• Reviews all time and attendance relative to employee shifts and company policy
• Prepares and maintains related payroll records and reports including Union 401(k) and Union Dues payments
• Perform all phases of payroll processing cycle in an accurate and timely manner.
• Process a weekly payroll of 300+ employees
• Developed and implemented an Affirmative Action Plan for the company and presented the plan to the MBTA.
• Work with the management team to insure compliance with the Affirmative Action Plan.
• Quarterly meetings with the MBTA to go over workforce analysis and reaffirm commitment to the AAP plans goals and objectives.
