Heating Plant Technician

•As a member of Emergency Services Department we are in charge of all Heating

plants including High Pressure located through the five (5) borough of NYC.

•Provide service and maintenance to all heating plants and make sure that the

tenants of all NYC housing Authority have adequate heat and hot water during the

heating season. In the summer we do preventive maintenance to ensure proper

efficiency of our plants.

NYCHA 1998-2010

Emergency Service Assistant

• Emergency Services Aides make up Rapid Response Teams that are dispatched to

sites according to priority.

• The teams are assigned to situations that may endanger the lives or safety of the

tenants, such as fires, health hazards, gas-leaks, stalled elevators with occupants,

elevator and power outages, and flood conditions.

• Our Unit protects the NYCHA property securing windows, turning off the gas, water

and power to the apartment making sure the rest of the tenants are safe, in electrical

outages we provided temporary lighting to the affected area, in flood emergencies we

use pumps and in major stoppages we clear them with special equipment, in elevator

emergencies we remove passengers and shut down the elevator.
