Engineering Projects

Tachometer and motor driver implemented through an HCS12 microcontroller. Motor speed controlled with

P WM through a potentiometer, and an analog power amplifier. RPM measured using a photodiode gate and

microprocessor to sample. Recorded data displayed on microprocessor LCD screen as well as sent to PC

serially for graphing purposes.

Created a program which would genera te an AutoCAD script file to automatically draft a rotor and stator

lamination for any desired number of poles, and with any number of desired slots for a single phase motor.

Wrote a MATLAB script to examine the effect Butterworth Filters of different orde rs have on signals

subjected to uniform noise, and multipath distortion.

Software and Programming Skills

Languages - C, C++, VHDL, Java, Assembly, Python, and Visual Basic

AutoCAD - 2D drafting, script writing, contour adjustments, 3D drafting

MATLAB - Filter analysis, cost analysis, magnetic circuits, weight estimates, probability testing, truss

deflection, and some graphic user interface

Xilinx - Combinatorial logic, synchronous sequential logic, shift registers and counters

Engineering Software - EAGLE, PSpice, Revit, Solid Works, ArcView

Excel - Cost analysis, beam deflection, pipe head loss and traverse calculations

Mathematica - Fourier series, rotational inertia calculations, dimensional scaling, and 3D parametric plotting

● Updated CAD file to include electrical conduit, gas lines, and water pipes

● Inventoried warehouse using Excel with the goal of selling, renting, or disposing excess items

CDM Smith Transportation Division, Co-Op Internship, Fall 2007, Syracuse, NY

P rovided different pedestrian bridge options such as cable stayed, suspension, truss, and concrete arch for

completion of pedestrian greenway based on cost, ease of installation, aesthetics, and prefabrication

Maximized track length in a design to allow for a unit length freight train to increase efficiency at a train yard

Constructed a sitemap from aerial photographs, and scaled the sitemap for use in AutoCAD

Modified contours on a CAD file to create proper slopes and grades for streets and sidewalks

CDM Smith Water Services Division, Co-Op Internship, Spring 2007, Charlotte, NC
