UNIVERSITY PROJECTS:
1. STUDY OF CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF NANOFLUID FOR
AUTOMOBILE COOLING APPLICATION (Main Project):
Radiators have been widely used in automobiles to carry away the
excess heat generated by the engine. This plays a pivotal role in enhancing
the performance and augmenting the smooth operation of the automobile the
introduction of nano-fluids would enhance the heat dissipation. It was
observed that, overall heat transfer coefficient and heat transfer rate in
engine cooling system increased with the usage of nano-fluids compared to
ethylene glycol alone.
2. MEASUREMENT OF HEAT FLUX PRODUCED BY PLASMA SPRAYING ON SUBSTRATE (Mini
project):
To develop a model for plasma jet impinged on flat substrate
temperature prediction using velocity and temperature profile at the exit
of the nozzle (k-epsilon and k-omega). To predict the heat flux profile
index using center line heat flux and total heat transfer rate. To predict
substrate temperature distribution using heat flux profile. Coating and
substrate temperatures are strongly influences the coating properties.
There is an experimental difficulty to measure the substrate/coating
temperature distribution by direct contact method.
3. REDUCTION IN DISTORTION OF MAIN SPINDLE OF L-45 LATHE (Main project):
To reduce the occurrence of distortion in main spindle of lathe L-45
at HMT Machine Tools Limited, Bangalore, for enabling them to increase the
overall quality of the product. The main target of this project is to
reduce the occurrence of distortion in the main Spindle. A Spindle is a
part of lathe which is carried by the headstock and supported by bearings.
A Spindle carries a chuck or any special attachment which is turn holds the
work piece that is going to be machined.
