Motor Vehicle Operator Material Handler (This is a federal job)

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:

As a motor vehicle operator for the federal government, I am required to maintain a class A CDL

drivers license with hazardous endorsement & Due to my expertise, during the past 18 months I

am continually training new hires that have recently acquired due to workload demands and

manpower increases. I am continually given difficult task to perform both on and off base with the

assignment outlined and complete all assignments safely well within time lines given. These task

require me to establish several types of planning functions including vehicle requirements, and

equipment requirements, total number of vehicles required, amount and types of material/

equipment to be loaded, size and weight capacities. I complete all required documentation to

include, travel orders, after action reports and various different documents required on daily

basis. I receive my job assignments each morning, perform pre-trip inspection on the vehicle that

I will drive for the day, checking tires, hoses, belts, breaks, fluids, and body for damages or

defected parts. . I operate diesel and gasoline powered trucks, semi-tractor trailers coupled by

use of turntable 5th wheel or pintle (pivot hook). I transport many bombs, small arms

ammunitions, hazardous materials, dozer's, track hoes, bobcat's, making sure that my load is

secure by using straps, chains & boomer's. When hauling explosives I'm required to know the

correct fire symbol, classification, and compatibility of product that I'm transporting. I execute

many over the road hauls across the United States, transporting various materials of all sizes,

complying with various state-to-state laws, by obtaining various permits. I also maintain a bus

endorsement on my CDL, and have been selected to do many tours for Command, DAC. I also

do bus runs for production personal. I am licensed to operate all MCAAP Transportation vehicles

assigned to equipment management division. I have been recognized by command numerous

times for outstanding performance while working for the transportation department.

Motor Vehicle Operator Leader (This is a federal job)

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:

As transportation work leader, I was responsible for about 60 drivers each day. My responsibilities

include: responsible for making daily sign in sheets with job duties for each driver, scheduling

overtime and submitting overtime request to my supervisor and the director of transportation

operations weekly, sign leave slips, made sure that shippers, production, storage, and all areas

were supported, bus transportation for production, assigned drivers for off station hauls, pick up

and delivery. I prepared a daily report on all equipment, and dumpster moves. Relay instructions

received from supervisor to other workers and ensures that work operations are started. Ensure

that motor vehicles are checked, fueled, and serviced; and ensures that daily inspection sheets,

utilization cards and dispatch records are promptly completed and submitted. Track and report

attendance and leave for time keeping purposes. I was responsible for the coordination of

equipment and personnel in support of all areas of Depot Operations (Shipping, Receiving,

Production Support, Inventory Support, Storage, Rewarehousing, Surveillance and

Transportation). Ensures the needed equipment, material and tools are available. See to it that

there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy. Check work in progress and when

finished. Answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instruction and other

directives and obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on

questions/problems that arise during the course of operations. Keep the supervisor advised on

the status and progress of work, causes of delays, and the overall work operations and problems.

Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed and conduct safety meetings. Assure that

causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Advise supervisor on the training

and certification status of crew members. Ensure that the supervisor is aware of any accidents,

personnel issues, or disciplinary problems. Performs Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials

Handler/Fork Lift Operator) duties along with other workers and sets the pace. Extract and

analyze data for reports, metrics, standards and development of budget information. Analyze the

data and recommends corrective actions to expedite the completion of the mission in a more

efficient manner and to improve the quality of the activities support to the customer. I coordinate

with supervisors, leaders, schedulers to assist in drawing up and planning realistic schedules.

Assist in identifying manpower, equipment and automated initiatives needed and coordinates

requirements to insure needed support is provided at the right time and place to ensure required

delivery dates are met. Reviews a wide variety of directives and regulatory requirements and

utilizes acquired data to recommend changes and improvements to processes and procedures. I

also maintain a CDL class A with hazard material & bus endorsement.
