Eagle Mine Wastewater Treatment Plants - Mintum, Colorado
Project Manager, Estimator, and Construction Supervisor for an
environmental engineering construction company. Served as Project Manager
for construction of two wastewater treatment plants at the Eagle Mine to
treat mine-contaminated water. The treatment plants included two 150-gpm
plants and the construction of a 40-foot diameter clarifier, 300-gpm
plant.
Contaminated Soil Removal - Casper, Wyoming
Project Manager for the removal of 87,000 tons of fuel-contaminated soils
from a refinery. The soils were transported to a facility in Bennett,
Colorado. The project was completed in less than 9 weeks using an average
of 110 trucks a day to haul the material.
Contaminated Material Removal - Springerville, Arizona
Project Manager for the removal of 35,000 cubic yards of fuel-
contaminated material which was placed in a landfarm. The project
included testing and monitoring of the soils.
Various Remediation and Superfund Projects
Cost Estimator on various remediation projects and Superfund projects
ranging from $50,000 to $65,000,000. Prepared cost estimate reviews for
the DOE for $500,000,000.
Various Projects
Project Manager, Estimator, and Purchaser for a major Construction
Company. Responsibilities included estimating and project management of
several earth-moving projects ranging from 10,000 cubic yards to
9,000,000 cubic yards including ponds built for the Pueblo Fish Hatchery,
a dam built in New Mexico, and an over lot grading of 9,000,000 cubic
yards for a subdivision in California. Additional projects also included
building highways and flood control channels in Arizona, bridge
approaches, site grading for a federal prison, site grading and utilities
for commercial building site and channel improvements in Colorado.
Remediation projects included moving 750,000 cubic yards of contaminated
mine tailings, capping, and installation of deep trench extraction
systems.
Lead Contaminated Soil Cleanup - Pecos, New Mexico
Project Manager and Estimator on a lead-contaminated soil cleanup for the
United States Forest Service, involving plume cleanup, stabilization of
road with lime, compaction, reshaping, and paving roads and parkways.
Coal Treatment Plant Demolition and Remediation - Ohio
Project Manager and Estimator for demolition and remediation of a coal
treatment plant, including pond cleanup, removal of overburden of coal
refuse, hauling material to an on-site landfill, placing broken concrete
in landfill, and reshaping existing ground.
Landfill Extension - Corpus Christi, Texas
Project Manager and Estimator for a landfill extension at the J. C.
Elliot landfill. Project included the placement of clay liner, HDPE
liner, double composite net, and a leachate collection system.
Alum Pond Cleanup - Pasadena, Texas
Project Manager and Estimator for an alum pond cleanup. Project included
pumping and stabilization of material and hauling of material to an on-
site landfill. Stabilized berms with both sand bags and imported clay.
Dam Construction -Aurora, Colorado
Project Manager for the construction of an earthen dam. Project included
excavation and backfilling of 170,000 cubic yards of material for the key
way, over-excavating and backfilling of 750,000 cubic yards of material
for the downstream embankment, installation of a 30-inch concrete encased
outlet pipe. Total project included 5,000,000 cubic yards of excavation
and embankment, 185,000 tons of rip rap, chimney drain, and overflow
structure.
Jet Fuel Line Removal - Denver, Colorado
Project Manager for the removal of jet fuel lines. Project included
excavation and removal of 15,000 lineal feet of jet fuel lines, ranging
in size from 4 inches to 24 inches. The jet fuel lines were drained,
cut, wrapped, and loaded and contained ACM. Vaults were also removed and
trenches were backfilled and compacted.
Contaminated Plume Remediation - Denver, Colorado
Project Manager for remediation of a fuel-contaminated plume. Project
included excavation and stockpiling of 14,000 cubic yards of non-
contaminated material, excavation and loading of 80,000 cubic yards of
fuel-contaminated material, implementation of groundwater controls,
placement of backfill and compaction of 91,000 cubic yards of clean
material.
Dike Construction - Redwood, Mississippi
Project Manager and Site Safety Officer for the installation of a 1,000-
foot finger dike in an existing settling pond with 7 feet of water.
Installation of an outlet structure and a diffuser into the Yazoo River.
Landfill Capping - Brevard, NorthCarolina
Project Manager and Site Safety Officer for the capping of a 14.5-acre
landfill. Project included reshaping of an existing landfill, loading and
hauling of over 45,000 cubic yards of clay, spreading and compacting the
material, installing erosion control, installing down drains, and
seeding. Assisted in preparation of the bid documents and provided an
estimate for the project to compare with the contractor's bid.
Landfill Repair - Wilmington, North Carolina
Project Manager and Site Safety Officer for the repair of an existing fly
ash landfill that was damaged by two hurricanes. Project included repair
of existing wash outs, reshaping of side slopes, replacing of clay fill,
installation of down drains, and seeding. Also included was the
installation gabion baskets on a washout by the Cape Fear River.
Pond Remediation - Aberdeen, Mississippi
Project Manager and Site Safety Officer for the remediation of an
existing 2-acre pond. Project included remediation of PVC resin, loading
and hauling of material to a landfill, importing and installing 26,000
cubic yards of clay to fill in the pond. Installed 6 inches of topsoil
and seeding. Participated in putting the bid documents together and
providing an estimate for the project to compare with the contractor's
bid.
Landfill Closures - Altamira, Mexico
Project Manager and Site Safety Officer for the closure of landfills in
Mexico. Project included capped four-hectare landfill and consolidated
52,000 cubic meters of landfill solids. Imported and placed 50,000 cubic
meters of borrow material to build 1,200 meters of perimeter dikes.
Installed a multi-layer cap of HDPE, geo-net, and geotextile liners.
Installed 5,000 cubic meters of clay buffer layer. Installed 15,000 cubic
meters of sub-soil and 5,000 cubic meters of topsoil. Excavated and
installed 1,200 meters of anchor trench and PVC drainage pipe and gravel.
Excavated and installed 1,400 meters of concrete channel (960 Soil Cement
cubic meters) and worked with a Mexican contractor in Altamira, Mexico.
Soil Solidification - Bridgeport, Connecticut
Project Manager and Site Safety Officer for the solidification of lead-
contaminated soils. The project included loading and hauling of
stockpiled lead-contaminated soils to a staging area, and loading the
lead-contaminated soil onto a screening plant to separate oversized
material, which was later crushed on site. Processing lead- contaminated
soils through a pugmill while adding additives to reduce hazards.
Participated in the preparation of a proposed work plan to remove
approximately 3 million live rounds of ammunition from Lake Success.
Contaminated Soil Cleanup - San Antonio, Texas
Project Manager for a lead-contaminated soil cleanup at the Alamodome.
Project included excavation of an on-site pit to hold 45,000 cubic yards
of lead-contaminated soil, installation of a clay liner followed by a
HDPE line, treatment of contaminated soil with lime, and placement in
cell.
