Under the guidance of an advisor, I studied the diversity amongst a specific group of bioluminescent bacteria (Virbio harveyi). The purpose of my research was to use this
discovered diversity to better understand their function and ecological importance.
I approached studying diversity by focusing my research project on how the Lux A gene different amongst the samples of bioluminescent bacteria (Virbio harveyi).
DNA fingerprinting and gene sequencing studies were used to identity some of the diversity that existed.
