RELATED EXPERIENCE
Maritime Policy and R&D Intern (8/2014~ now) Carnival Corporation&plc, Miami, FL
Support work of environmental director and manager. Reviews and evaluations of any and all operations
and activities to assess compliance with policies, laws, and regulations like MARPOL, or EU
Requirements. Draft reports, such as washwater test procedure for shipboard personnel, to make
operations compliance with Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), USCG, EPA and all other
internal Health, Environmental, Safety and Security policies and procedures.
Take part in technical project management (exhaust gas cleaning system project). Provide project
support varying in scope, from initial machine manufacture comparison to extensive dry dock technical
projects as requested. Prepare milestone planning, owner supply purchase order status, design,
specification development, documentation coordination and management
Communicate with the delegates of IMO Countries and port authorities. Build a rapport with these
contacts. Update the regulations database. Prepare the knowledge of maritime industry.
Survey and Analysis of Tidal and Subtidal Current, Salinity at Suwanee River (Measurement Survey Class project),
3/2014
Surveyed in boat with Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and CTD instrument at the entrance of
East pass Suwannee River, getting original velocity data.
Processed and analyzed data with WinRiver and Matlab, utilized plenty of statistical methods to analyze
data and got properties of tidal and subtidal flow, temperature, salinity and density in this area.
Preliminary design of Rubble mound breakwater to protect a landmark in South Florida (coastal structure Class
project), 5/2013
Based on design requirement and physical conditions, specified coastal structure plan. Followed up
Coastal Engineering Manuals, specified armor material requirements and material quantities, adjusted
the design to accommodate the soil stability. Looked up Coastal Engineering Manuals. Analyzed raw
wave data with MATLAB, took storm surge into consideration when designing. Conducted Bearing capacity
and settlement analysis. Drew AutoCAD Sketch for the breakwater.
2-D Numerical simulation model for wind-induced wave for a basin (Numerical simulation Class project) 4/2013
Collaborated with other four group members. After analyzing physical conditions, simulated wind-induced
waves in a basin. Used fractional steps method, programmed in FORTRAN to solve hydraulic equations.
Analyzed the simulation result of velocities and other physical properties by MATLAB.
Use Finite Element Method to analyze Ship-Shape and Facilities (FEA Class Project, Software: ANSYS)
Built the 3D geometry model, which is then discretized using tetrahedral (3D), triangular (2D), and beam
elements. In meeting requirements mechanically, used the displacement formulation of the finite element
method to calculate component displacements, strains, and stresses under internal and external loads
for the analyzed structures. Determined stress distributions, elastic deformation, reaction forces and
component fatigue.
Construction Intern (7/2010) Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard, Shanghai, China
Trained in the shipyard, rotate in different production departments for seeing the process of shipbuilding
like cutting plates, assembly, rigging articles, and mounting huge blocks. The on-going projects include
submersible, oil tanker, cargos.
