I recognized that many people both in the local and skating communities had never heard of the Onyx
despite the state-of-the-art facility and almost eleven year history. Therefore, in 2009 I determined to
make the Onyx name known and to build the skating image among club and community members.
• PR: Initiated and took charge of PR for the OSA. My articles appeared in Oakland Press
including “Olympic Skating Coach Shares Motivational Tips” article, Clarkston News, Troy
Beacon News, HometownLife.com, and USFSA website “Onyx-Suburban Looks Out for One of its
Own” article about the first annual “Skate for a Cause”.
• OSA Website – my “OSA in the News” and “Latest News” articles and stories appeared on the
club website to inform and build the skating image among club members and the public as well as
to promote club happenings and skaters’ accomplishments.

FIT’s, a nonprofit teen theatre troupe, mission is to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication
skills in young people ages 13 – 19 through theater production experiences.
Despite FIT’s 6 year history in 2007, FIT was unknown in the community. Therefore, I identified
advertising and administrative problems, developed solutions, and took charge of PR.
