ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Project: Online Shopping Portal
Environment: Front end: HTML, JavaScript; Back end: PHP. Database: MySQL
Description: Developed an online shopping portal for an ecommerce enterprise. The user interface
consisted of login pages for customer and employees where the customers could
browse for products, place orders and request for products and employees could
monitor sales, offer discounts and approve customer requests.
Project: Analyzer for Simplified MIPS CPU
Environment: Python
Description: Devised an architecture simulator for the MIPS computer that accepts a program as an
input in MIPS assembly using MIPS instructions. The output of the simulator is a file
containing the cycle time at which each instruction completes the various stages and
statistics for cache access. The pipeline architecture did not support forwarding
property. The structural and data hazards (RAW, WAR, WAW) are detected and handled
by the parser and result into pipelining stalls. The parser detects bad input files and
gives appropriate error messages. The output is written in a text file that gives a
detailed result of the stage cycles for each instruction along with the hazards if
detected.
Project: WikiEdit
Environment: Windows 7, Service Layer: Tomcat + Apache Axis (JWS), Front end: HTML-PHP,
Back end: JavaScript, Java And Database: MySQL, Hadoop based Map-reduce,
WSDL: Apache Axis.
Description: Successfully deployed a service that suggests existing Wikipedia users, pages to edit
depending on their area of interest and edit history. A user can enroll himself by
creating an account which gathers the information necessary in order to suggest pages
to edit. The service uses information collected from Wikipedia dumps containing the
details of the pages in Wikipedia such as title, area code, editor, Wikipedia username
etc. Only the title and username was collected so as to obtain the edit history of the user
in order to display pages to edit. The front end is designed in HTML while the server
side programming is done in PHP.
Project: Strict Fibonacci Heaps
Environment: Data Structures
Description: Introduced two additional data structure in order to reduce the time complexity of the
pointer based implementation of Strict Fibonacci heaps. Implemented an array which
stores the value to represent loss for each node in the heap and a hash-table which
stores rank for a set of nodes.
Project: Visual Traffic Simulator
Environment: Java
Description: Successfully devised a simulation model to animate user defined traffic data on a road
network. Innovatively added intuitive visualizations for the traffic flow. The results of
the simulation enabled different road networks to be compared for efficiency.
