Employment
36 years with UOP A Honeywell company, Des Plaines, Illinois, USA
1997 - 2015: Senior Systems Engineer - UOP PIC Service
Providing Customer Service, Programming, Training, and Commissioning
assistance to refineries world wide, including multiple visits to the
Reliance Industries Jamnagar facility, and three others in India. Current
total is more than 50 refineries and chemical plants in more than 30
countries.
1991 - 1997: Design Engineer - UOP Engineering Department
As a Design Engineer did the Project or Process Design specifications for
several refineries, including the FCC Gas Concentration plant in the
Reliance Industries plant in Jamnagar, India. It was impressive to finally
get to see the unit after it was in operation for ten years and its
capacity was being expanded.
Became the UOP Hydraulics expert. Taught UOP design engineers how to use
the UOP developed mainframe program that set the world wide standard for
quality design. Worked with the main programmers of the program to
continue its development, based upon user requests, and observation of
their issues while using the program.
Taught the Hydraulics Class at the 12-week UOP Engineering Design Seminar.
This is a multi-licensor class attended by up and coming engineers sent by
upper management from refineries around the world, to help bring them up to
speed as quickly as possible on the multiple aspects and challenges of
their refinery engineering work.
1990 - Took time off to be a full time Dad when my daughter was born and
had medical challenges
1980 - 1989: UOP Technical Advisor for Refinery Startups World Wide
Provided commissioning assistance, formal and informal training, catalyst
regeneration, and troubleshooting services to 32 refineries in 22
countries. Was leader for multiple teams of engineers providing on site
services.
1978 - 1980: UOP Pilot Plant Engineer and Operator
Operated UOP pilot plants that develop the world famous UOP technology.
Determined the operating conditions, evaluated the data, wrote the reports,
and researched ways for process optimization.
